The sun shone high above the rubble of the broken city below it. The sounds of construction and progress are heard as many of the neighboring towns have sent aid to the all but destroyed metropolis.

You yourself were sent here, through either fortune or duty, and see first hand the horrible state of things. Your destination if that of the Pokemon Gym, the leader Burgh has been rounding up volunteers and survivors since the incident and giving them shelter in the gym until further notice. Thanks to it's design the hive-like structure is mostly intact.

Jeremy carefully picks his way through the debris, with Backblast at his side. "It's even worse than it looked from that air..." he mutters. Every now and then he's forced to use his Mecha arm to move some debris out of the way, and at one point even deploys Hercules to move a wrecked car out of the main road, opening up the traffic lanes that much more for others. Finally he gets to Burgh's distinctive gym.

As Chekhov approaches the gym he goes over his information and tries to get his facts straight so he didn't appear ignorant. He knew the gym was the logical place to start and one of the most structurally sound buildings in the city but for the life of him he couldn't remember the current gym leaders name Ok Burgh founded the gym but that doesn't mean he is still there just like how Brock doesn't run the pewter gym anymore who else specializes in bugs?... well there is the johto leader Bugsy... hmm burgh is tall and bugsy is short so I'll just ask who the leader is and make the call on height... what could possibly go wrong?

He then noticed Dimitri and Sasha who were walking with him were giving him funny looks "eh I thought that out loud didn't I?" the pair nod "ah well I'll get used to this telepathy business eventually... it only took me a year to get telekinesis down*grumble*"

unless he is getting jumped by something his walk should be uneventful till he reaches the gym

After hearing that the Gym was not only still intact but its Leader being still alive, Phil took off for it on Horus for it. One would think riding a Sigilyph is difficult, and for extended periods it can be. But where the round body may be awkward to ride on, it's compensated for by the pokemon's telekinesis. Also it helps to lay on top of it on your belly.

The pair gets to the Gym. Visibly damaged (as any building covered in glass would be) but still very much intact. Phil can't help but think about challenging the Gym finally, but he realizes that now is neither the time nor the place. For now he figured he could be of some help. The white-coated trainer slides off the Sigilyph, landing on his feet. From that, not really liking the idea of keeping Magnus and Sekmet held up for too long, he releases them, the former hovering in the air with Horus, the latter is placed calmly on Phil's shoulder. The four proceed into the gym, careful to avoid stepping on glass.

"Looks like I made it."

Circling the giant hive-gym once to give it a good look, James directs his ditto downwards. He wasn't sure how much longer the pokemon would hold the form, and he certainly didn't want to experience a free fall from this height...again.
Landing on the ground, the Pidgeot immediately reverts into it's small pink ditto form.

Checking the mechanics of his metal arms and ensuring that everything is in place, James proceeds to head for the gym entrance.

Vera picked her way through the debris, frowning. Oh, she hated to reinforce stereotypes, but she really didn't like getting dirty! Even if she was wearing work clothes. Clarissa was lying on her head now, perfectly content. The dusty atmosphere was nothing compared to her home cave.

After a while, they made it to the gym. Vera could see several other trainers gathering around-she supposed they were here for similar reasons as she was.

"Hello!" she called, waving. "I'm Vera. And you guys are?"

Jeremy looks up from where he'd been inspecting the foundation of the gym, mindful of the shards of broken glass that hadn't been cleared yet. "Ah, hello. Jeremy. Jeremy Fairweather. Excavations and Demolitions specialist from Johto." He motions to the Heracross that's using his armored forearms to sweep the larger glass chunks into more manageable piles while a Quilava gingerly picks up smaller pieces to add to the piles to the side of the entrance. What appears to be a smooth brown rock at first glance is skittering about on insectoid legs, using weak jets of water to gather up the smallest shards in a glittering mass of mud, maneuvering skillfully around the other two mon. "This is my team. Hercules, Backblast, and Skimmer." The three mon momentarily stop what they're doing as their names are mentioned and look up, but after no new orders are issued, go back to what they'd been doing.

Chekhov was about to go inside when he heard the girl speak he instead holds the door open for the others and says politely "My name is Chekhov pleasure to meet you" Sasha then coughs and Chekhov realises he is holding the door open with his third mechanical arm. A D'oh slips from his mind into the minds of the surrounding people as he quickly switches arms and retracts the mechanical one. he look up again with a weak smile, and some innocent whistling hoping no one noticed.

James eyes up the newcomers. Couple of kids out to help it seems. Well, it's good that at least not all kids these days were hooligans. Hell, two even seemed to have gotten their hands on a Mech Arms, though . Brings him back to when he first got his...

Realizing what he's thinking, James sighs. He really wasn't THAT old... he just certainly seemed to be feeling it nowadays. Maybe it was due to the influx of new recruits lately.

"Special Agent Burdell, second division Kanto Snagger unit."
He wasn't a huge fan of being in authority, but he needed to stay professional if he wanted to be able to get anything done. Good impression and all that.
Truthfully, he rarely worked with other parties anyway. As a robotics specialist and a Snagger, he was more used to commissions, hunting bounties, or being called in for dangerous people.

Now that he's representing his division in a different area however, he needed to stay as respectable as he could.
His musings are interupted as he hears a few crunching sounds behind him.

Koh, his Ditto, had apparently taken to the nearby Heracross's form, and had been doing mock poses behind him as he walked.

So much for first impressions.

"...If you're going to cause trouble, you're going to work. Go help out the other."

The Ditto-Heracross makes a noise of displeasure, but obediently goes to clearing away the rubble as well.

He briefly contemplates sending out his other Pokemon, but their use would be minimal at the moment. Not to mention he had his hands full with Koh alone.

Well since we're getting to introductions I guess it's my turn. The young man in the white desert coat steps forward. I'm Phil Garrett. I do...things. And I assume we're all here for the same reason unless i'm missing something. He turns to the Magnemite and Sigilyph following him.

And this is Magnus pointing at the Magnemite, Horus the Sigilyph And this little guy right here's Sekmet. He says, running his hand through the Larvesta's fur, who responds with a happy chirping.

Jeremy nods, even as he twists the wrist of his mecha arm slightly, a small fish-eye lens popping out of what had appeared to be a larger-than-average rivet at first glance. He swivels it to get a clear image of each of the pokemon that are present, giving a small satisfied nod after a small menu pops up on the lenses of his goggles. "Pleasure to meet all of you. Shall we see what Burgh needs to apply our skills to the most?" he gestures towards the doors of the gym, which now have a large space completely free of glass around them.

By the time Terra arrived at the Gym she saw a group of others talking. She grinned as she recognized a few and casually moved over. "Hello everyone." She says with a mischievous grin. She looked over at the group, analyzing which of them seemed the easiest targets and which ones seemed the hardest. She didn't have time to get in a relationship or have any fun, but that didn't mean she couldn't use her good looks to at least make people interested in her.

Target acquired...initiating Operation Blue Ball. Terra thinks to herself when the male nods and calls her ma'am. Gentleman were always fun to make think dirty thoughts. She hoped he was one of the ones that got embarrassed and felt bad whenever he thought inappropriate thoughts.

Terra turns, just enough to try and give Jeremy the best view of her body and turns and winks, "Name's Terra, cutie. Yours?" She asked with a purr. I hope he blushes...come on...get aroused, get embarrassed. Terra thought mischievously. She loved the power she felt being able to control people's emotions.

Infatuation!

Opposed by you making a wisdom check (since it is your lowest of int/wis)

Oh, right... plus or minus whatever based on if Terra is 'your type'. Max bonus is +15 if you REALLY don't like her at all. -5 if she is someone you'd be really interested. Any range in between. Not like it matters since even a +15 and a +3 gives you +18 and a natural 20 is only a 38. Enough, but unlikely.

Phil's eyes roll at the sight of Terra's behavior. He's seen it before, these kinds of girls are everywhere in Nimbasa City. It's better on Route 4, but only slightly less so. Needless to say he is not amused. He makes for the gym entrance. We shouldn't keep Burgh waiting, that'd be unprofessional. You coming Jeremy?

Chekhov's networked scanner and pokeradar combo was already picking up all the mons, and gathering information for him to review later. Though his drive to scan, and collect wasn't like it was a year ago.

As Terra flirts with the other engineer Chekhov was reading minds to see if anyone noticed his slip up. He couldn't help but notice her intentions to which he just rolled his eyes. Geez the last thing this town needs is more drama. He had a hard enough time keeping his powers in check without such "distractions" so he turns to technology to help him focus. He pulls his goggles down over his eyes, fires up their internal display, and starts psychokinetically coding.

He calibrates the scanner to lock on to, and keep track of the annoying woman, and compare her actions to his medical read out. Should she do anything Chekhov subconsciously finds "distracting" the focus subroutine he is writing will kick in, and give him sudden and unpleasant audio feedback to snap him out of it. As it records her words, and actions for future less unpleasant filtering.

To anyone watching Chekhov he looks like he is limply starting off into space as his goggles flash bright colors. He is still holding the door open.

With the focus subroutine up and running Chekhov decides to test it out by sending a telepathic message to the flirtatious woman. If you're just hear to sexually harass the other volunteers then maybe you should just leave. He says staring at her grumpily before the focus routine gives him a warning "BUZZ!" causing him to flinch, and mutter. Gah! This wasn't well thought out.

The teen blinks. "Name's Jeremy ma'am. Jeremy Fairweather." With that he heads into the gym, his team following along behind him, Skimmer perched on Heracross' head between the antennae.

If Chekov reads Jeremy's mind, he'll get some brief flashes of a very attractive brunette teen overlaying Vera, followed by an echo of mocking laughter.

This was more difficult than Chekhov thought he must have set the thresholds to low cause he really had to concentrate to stop the goggles from blasting his eardrums out. But he felt he had to do this. Or rather he felt he had to win against his subconscious to master his powers because he would be no good to his old group when he caught up to them if he was still all over the place like he was when he got hurt.

Its not what you said its why you said it, and I'm not jealous because attention isn't something I seek especially from someone like you With that he breaks off the link and follows the other engineer inside closing the door behind him.

Walking behind the other engineer Chekhov says out loud as he pulls his goggles off. "Man what a [female poochyena] and with a dirtier mind to boot... she is gonna be trouble." still Chekhov couldn't help but think its very inconvenient to reach the city you have to be really twisted to come here JUST to be a flirt... so why else could she be hear? his curiosity was peeked but he would have to come up with a more elegant solution than noisy goggles if he wanted to keep his cool around her long enough to find out.

...So much for well-mannered kids. The kid by the door appeared to be watching cartoons on his goggles while the new girl seemed to be a pretty shameless flirt.

Shaking his head, James holds up a Pokeball and calls back Koh before the ditto can do something offensive. Following behind the ones entering the gym, he keeps his scanner open. He had just been issued a new Dex upon leave, and he figured it wouldnt hurt to send whatever information he got back to headquarters afterwards.

Vera simply smiles amusedly at Terra's attempts to flirt, which she can relate to in a way. Maybe I should make her a nice little accessory...

She spins around at Chekhov's comment.

"Excuse me. I didn't realize we had to censor what we thought as well. I thought our own minds were supposed to be private at least. Also-" she gets closer to his face, the Zubat on her head baring her own fangs as well "-I do not appreciate you using that kind of language about women!"

Maybe I'm just being sensitive...but I didn't like Richard calling me and Sasha that either. She briefly considers flicking some glitter into his eyes, then decides against it. No use wasting perfectly good glitter.

As the young man walks away, Terra ponders what went wrong. Still, she wouldn't give up that easily. She lets him go for now before moving to the door, opening it, and heading into the gym. Since she has no way to tell when a "link" is broken, she replies to the rude mind reader

What a gentleman, so polite. She thinks, Still, its rude to read people's minds, you never know what they might be thinking of... She thinks before picturing some VERY inappropriate images which won't be posted in detail.

As she enters, she catches the tail end of the telepath's comment and frowns. She had come to this town and wasn't expecting people to be so hostile to her when all she had done was flirt. She'd had people turn down advances before and a few girls had been crude towards her, but this early and this quick and from men was a bit of a shock.

She realizes commenting would just drag it out, so she keeps her feelings inside, though a small smile crosses her lips when the other girl in the group snaps at the rude telepathic engineer. So far she only knew the one called Jeremy's name, but the girl seemed a good one to get to know.

Chekhov is surprised when the younger girl chases him down, steps in front of him, and gets in his face. Prompting him to accidentally transmit.

Sharp ears that one.

He steps back, and his leather coat sporting Nidorino steps in between the two with his spines standing up on end menacingly, but Chekhov waves him off.

"I'm sorry for my out burst" He says with a bow before swallowing his pride, and explaining privately via telepathy. These abilities are still new to me, and telepathy has proven especially difficult to control. There are times when I can't control what I receive, or send. When I "overheard" the woman's mind I found she was flirting simply to fuel a fetish of making the other man squirm. I found this inappropriate for the cities present situation, and over reacted causing my "Vermilion accent" to slip out. I ultimately do not wish to be a cause of hostility, and I hope you will accept my apology. also... while I have no grounds to expect, or request privacy I would appreciate it you didn't share the struggles I have with my powers with others.

Okay, I can see how that could be awkward. Still, it's her prerogative, and quite frankly, I can see how she'd find making people squirm fun. I'm a Coordinator, you know. Part of my act is to unnerve the competition. And really, even if what she's doing is inappropriate, using that word to refer to someone you just met is just as inappropriate. By then, Vera had reached the doors, and she quickly pushed them open and slipped inside.

(And I poof back)

The doors open as they are pushed, each entrant is treated to the same site of many bug Pokemon and trainers tending to the injured in the makeshift hospital that has formed. Audino and nurses form the nearby centers have also been dispatched

A man with shaggy brown hair and a greenish coloring to his clothes directs most of the Pokemon to their tasks before turning around and noting you all. "Ah, Welcome friends, you must be the trainers that I heard were arriving today. My name is Burgh, leader of the Celestia city gym. Burgh nods to each of you in kind as you introduce yourselves, "I'm glad to have so many talented folks coming to our aid. Most of the initial aid has already been rendered, the more outlying areas around Route Four. The sandstorms that usually control the bulk of the route have died down, which I suppose is the silver lining of this event." He looks back to the nurses for a moment, thinking if there was anything else he had forgotten to mention.

"Oh, yes there was another thing. Some of the nurses have wanted me to check on the state of the Pokemon on Route Four, particularly those around the ruins, they worry that the quake might have put some of them in jeopardy as well. I've got my hands full though at the moment so I can't go."

Phil sensed this, having known Sekmet for years, he knew his friend's emotions better than anyone. Thank you. Phil says, taking the soda. He thinks to the Desert Resort. He's pretty much from there, so if anyone would know the area it's him. Truth be told there isn't a whole lot to say about the Ruins, as just about all excavation attempts are thwarted by one sandstorm or another. He'd think after all these years the winds would run out of sand.
I think that can be done. I don't mean to be rude but do you have extra water bottles or something? The desert is the last place you want to be dehydrated. Also... he looks to the other trainers. a word of warning, you might wanna cover up. Just because there's no sandstorm doesn't mean the wind isn't blowing. And trust me, when that sand gets blown around, it can really hurt. Something white too, or a generally light color.

The armbands can temporarily increase your strength, and these legbands do the same for your agility. You just need to focus on activating them to use their power. Each one only works for around five minutes, and each one has only three charges." She looks embarrassed. "I'm still working on improving that last part...anyways, if you think you need one, feel free to take it!"

Hey, might as well use some of my starting accessories now, eh? The necklace is a Lucky Piece, the armbands are a Strength Piece, and the legbands are a Dexterity Piece. Their uses can be found on Vera's profile.

She quickly got on the Fearow and smirked at the Fearow's owner, "Oh darn, I'll have to wrap my arms around you to hold on tightly. I hope that doesn't make me too much of a bitch."

Terra will probably find her arm wrapping to not be as effective as she would like for messing with Chekhov due to his leather jacket and the equipment filled backpack between them, but other wise her message was sent. "Heh I guess I deserve to be messed with after getting carried away and letting my vermilion accent slip" Says Checkhov trying to make light of the situation in the hope that it would resolve faster as a result. Chekhov then recalls Demitri, and Sasha, and directs Mig to take off. They rocket into the sky, and set a course for the ruins along route 4.

Along the way he sends a message to Terra since its inconvenient to shout over the wind. You said you had suspicions about the cause of all this? Is this the result of hard evidence, or just detective intuition and gut feelings?

His reaction is generally confusion and "why would someone do that?" before any sort of embarrassment since innuendo's generally go over his head (not as bad as they used to though). He keeps in her head though hoping to get something he out of the flirt in the off chance this volunteer work was about to get very dangerous, and because he doesn't want to get caught off guard by that like his first encounter with team rocket. He decides to play along and try his version of her tactics. Well I was hoping to get an idea of who was behind this due to an old score I want to settle with team rocket, but I guess I shouldn't bore you with the story of action and conspiracy since I can't consider you a reliable source of information if your comments are just intended to fake people out, and bait them into awkward situations for your own enjoyment. I guess things could be worse at least your dressed and we are not under attack my anything yet. After a slight walk you come upon it, Route 4.

Route 4's expanse lies before you. the sandstorms having abated for now make the sun seem hotter as it has no clouds of dust to streak through. The road to Nimbasa seems in tact in some places and shattered in others, the quakes having done some damage. From here you can proceed towards a few places such as the Desert Ruins or the Resort.

"And I never said I knew who was behind it, I merely commented that I suspected people were behind it. Team Rocket doesn't stretch out this far though. Besides, when people are in awkward situations it is very common that they slip up and reveal things. Keep somebody flustered and they can't keep anything hidden. It's like a boner. You can adjust it, but it sticks out if you're looking for it." She teases, though her mind stops with the dirty thoughts since her test was complete.

He forgets about conspiracy theories, and just focuses on convincing Terra to keep her shirt on. Rather than fake some technobabble about arid climates actually being cooler and that deserts are not always hot he decides to go for the honesty approach Uh... look I just don't want the others to catch up, see you next to me half naked without any context as to why you're like that, and have them imagine their own reasons. At first she'd thought his focus had been pretty well, but now she'd finally found out how to distract him enough that he'd forgotten all about his questions about who was involved. She'd tell him eventually, but his embarrassed reactions were just too good to pass up. "You can even have a quick squeeze if you want. Be gentle though, lots of nerve endings in breasts." I can safely say I've seen real breasts along the way possibly multiple times. Though I think rescuing and rehabilitating a mortally wounded onix alone has taught me more than I would ever gain from seeing and or feeling breasts. No offence. You're pretty and all that. Its just... oh never mind I'm not a philosopher or really even much of a psychic its not worth the time of a dedicated and more experienced detective for me to go rambling on about my past, or go digging for information when they haven't decided I'm worth their time to tell yet. I am sorry for wasting time you could have spent deducing and going over your information he thinks over some things and decides he was just caught up in the moment, and that his fussing over reputation was silly Also you can forget what I said about reputations after thinking it over I'm sure whatever misunderstandings that occur can be overcome as long as no one dies as a result. though I recommend you don't change while we are flying. I merely said I didn't want to throw out information without being positive. My lead comes from somebody else's lead. They suspected a group, then they died. Unfortunately this means I can't question them and find out why. Terra thinks. Despite the fact that she is trying to act calm and casual at the last sentence a trace of hurt and sadness is barely detectable, especially due to the fact it was telepathy and not speaking, However, until I find out more, spreading rumors would be bad. As they fly over route 4 Chekhov flys lower keeps an eye on his radar for signs of movement. This volunteer work is a chance for me to change the way I think and I should be taking advantage of that... now lets see where are the pokemon we are supposed to make sure are safe and happy?" he looks around but doesn't stray to far until the others catch up.

Pokemon? Really? He responds to Chekhov. Although he pretty much grew up there, he never really considered it beyond a possibility, however it does make total sense considering how impossible it was for the sand to cover them up, and how out-of-place they looked relative to the rest of the Ruins. At the very least they at least seem harmless, and as long as you leave them alone they leave you alone.

However when he looks for the source of the commotion and sees the birds being drawn towards the group, he knows what to do. It's pretty much universally known that flying pokemon don't like electricity. For this reason, he draws out his Electric type. Magnus, I think i'm gonna need your help.
