This is my first post here, I just got back into d&d 3.5 so I could use some help on this build. Any idea's to give it more flavor would be great, I think he will be fine survivability wise so no need to optimize but the best thing about this site seems to be the number of people willing to impart their 2 cents.

Str 14
Dex 16
Con 16
Int 18
Wis 14
Cha 10

Level 1-2, Combat Wizard ACF (Expeditious Dodge, Improved Initiative, Combat Casting, Mobility)

Level 3, Fighter (EWP Spiked Chain, Combat Reflexes)

Level 4-6 Swashbuckler (Power Attack)

Level 7-11 Abjurant Champion (Stand Still)

Level 12+ Swiftblade (Extend Spell, Whirlwind Attack, open feat)

My DM is also letting me sub Arcane Strike for Arcane Boost if I choose. I made this character because I like the idea of the swiftblade so I don't want to change any classes, just need advice on feat selection and magic items to shoot for. Thanks for all your creative input into my character! Books allowed are pretty much anything hardcover, basically no Dragon Mag or non WOTC online material.

There's a fighter alternate in either Complete Arcana or Complete Mage that lets you wear light armor w/o spellcasting failure for wiz/sorc spells, but you give up medium and heavy armor. Kind of useful for early levels, maybe not once you get Abjurant Champion.

I could also imagine a lot of fun with a Grease and trip routine duo. Edvard's Black Tentacles could be a fun way to hold people still while you wail on them from a distance with spells or your chain.

I think you can drop Whirlwind Attack. It's not a very effective feat.

I would focus more on Swiftblade, but that's just me. I really like those class features.

Make sure to have a good set of Swift Action spells. You know like Blade Weave, Wraith Strike, Halt.

The only reason I figured whirlwind would be good is that I had to take dodge/mobility for prereqs for swiftblade, get spring attack for free, then cast enlarge and have a WW that covers a 20 ft. reach 360 around me. I went transmutation specialist and gave up Necro/Enchant, and I'm using Wraithstrike, Luminous/Greater Luminous Armor, shield, and haste mostly for low level spells... not quite sure on spells over 4 though. Solid fog is nice to help slow. This is my first magic using character, so on the magic side of things I am kind of inexperienced.
