Crafting time

When it says an item takes X days, or a week or whatever, to craft, does this mean that the character has to spend the whole day (aside from 8 hours sleep) working on it, uninterrupted?

The caster works for 8 hours each day. He cannot rush the process by working longer each day. But the days need not be consecutive, and the caster can use the rest of his time as he sees fit.

I believe you can interrupt the item creation, but you must work at least 8 hours a day for it to count.

I was thinking more non-magical items, but I assume the 8 hours would cover that too.
