When creating a magic weapon, or rather buying one, does the enhancement bonusses need to match the total amount of abilities?

F.x. does a vorpal (+5 ability) also need to have a +5 enhancement bonus, or can it be +1 vorpal for a total price of +6?

This is the only aspect of magic weapons and armor that really confuses me..

Anyways, that's about it, hope you'll take your time to clarify this to me :)

It only needs to be at least +1 basic. The remaining bonuses can be any mix of basic enhancement (the +1 to +5 quality) and special properties.

A weapon only needs to be +1 to have any special ability. You can have a +1 vorpal weapon.

No, the enhancement boni doesn't need to match the abilities, so your second exemple is valid. However, every magic weapon must have at least a +1 enhancement bonus.

Furthermore, it's FAR cheaper to get an item of use-activated Greater Magic Weapon (such as the tooth of Leraje, from Tome of Magic) than to bother with a +5 enhancement bonus. If nothing else, you can always buy a pearl of power to give to one of the party's casters and have him cast Greater Magic Weapon for you.
