View Full Version : How can I make my Warlock more versatile?

I'm trying to make a 12th Level Warlock, and I was wondering how I could make it as versatile as possible? I'm in a pretty Low-OP group, so damage isn't very important. I would like Warlock to be able to do as many things as reasonably possible, while still being able to help a little in combat. I'm a party with a Cleric, Rogue, another Rogue, Bard and Ranger. Thank you for the help.

Here's a link to a Warlock handbook.

It tells you which ability does what and how to improve your utility.

Nope. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=265455) Also, I encourage dialogue over just posting a handbook.

Anyway, a good way is to cheat your way into Anima Mage... or enter it fairly. Binder abilities blend really well with warlock ones. Any particular source restrictions?

At level 12 you get imbue item, I suggest getting scribe scroll and spend your downtime scribing utility scrolls, if you invested in UMD (which you should have as a Warlock) you won't have trouble passing the checks to make the scrolls or to use them.

If you are human, you could dip 2 levels into chameleon for the floating bonus feat which combines incredibly well with Imbue Item.

Yeah, I'm kinda just limited in nature, and my group doesn't really even know what "dipping" is or how to do it, so I'd rather not do it, as they're kinda pissed off at me for making my glaivelock before...Anyways, I do have UMD but I have no idea what Imbue Item is, and my Craft skill is Craft(Wand). I'll probably see if I can change my skills as well as my invocations.
EDIT: Just looked up imbue item. Very useful. I will more than likely just start carrying a metric ton of scrolls with me, and use items that way.

Just keep in mind you need the feats to craft the items.

The Anima Mage doesn't need a dip. Take it to ten. :smalltongue:

... Do you just keep sheets lying around?

I notice your character sheet has Eldritch Glaive.
My DM banned Eldritch Glaive...
I'll probably just use the handbook(Sorry Snowbluff) and pick out some that will help me a little.

Then you likely want Entropic Warding to replace it.

Eh, I win either way. >:D

I have a slightly more recent/complete handbook in my sig. I picked it up when Thiago couldn't do it anymore. If you need any more specific advice, just ask.

So, the invocations I took are Eldritch Spear, Baleful Utterance, The Dead Walk, Fell Flight, Flee the Scene, Walk Unseen, Relentless Dispelling, Devil's Whispers, and Vitriolic Blast. Is that a good list, and remember, I am NOT going for damage?

I think that is a very good list, you have flight, dimesnion door and invisiblity for mobility as well as get outta dodge invocations. suggestion got maybe getting your way on some things

edlritch spear for range

your dispellf or soem good old debuffing of the bad guys

the dead walkf or zobmies/skeletons minions for whatever reasons you cna think of

and the rest seem great as well

you did a good job of being versatile there.

Uh, it dispels a Dispel Magic? Keep in mind you only can Dispel up to a +10. You should ask your DM. Liking everything else.

Thanks for helping. I'll be sure to present this all to my DM.

Minor Schemas (from Magic of Eberron) and Eternal Wands (Eberron Campaign Setting or Magic Item Compendium) could be nice. They're basically reusable scrolls and wands with a once-per-day and a twice-per-day limit respectively. Use UMD to activate and you're good to go.
