ok... so... I never really used either. I did play a paladin for a while, but the heal wasn't really noticeable except out of combat.

Has anyone seen either used well?

Well, lay on hands was never meant to be a main source of healing. It's more just a nice bonus that paladins get. Real healing will always come from spells.

No probably not. I haven't. It's just way too weak. At best it'll save a dying friend if you have nothing else left to use. 'Sides that you'll probably forget you have it.

i've always seen lay on hands as the "stabilize button" so your friends can get out on 1 hp if they are in lots of trouble.

Lay on Hands can be useful if by some freakish coincidence you have a lot of Paladin levels and a very high Charisma - it basically becomes a supernatural Heal once a day.
