Does anyone know how the Corpse Companion works?

Say I am level 1.

I have a 1HD Dwarf skeleton.

I level up, and it becomes a 2hd Dwarf Skeleton?

Then at level 3 it becomes a 3hd Dwarf Skeleton?

Does it get feats and what not?

I just can't see it as a very good bonus if it doesn't work this way...

No, you have to get a new skeleton when you level up.

Yep, you have to animate a new corpse if you want to advance your companion. There's no automatic level ups and, being mindless, they never get any skills or feats (aside from racial bonuses and bonus feats).

So... not really worth the loss of the domain then...

Well, at least in my opinion.

They can make pretty decent armies, but they're no dread necros, so...

I guess it depends on the kind of build you want to play. A domain in exchange for two bonus feats, a decent meat shield, and a boost in negative energy healing (which I assume works on him as well) isn't such a bad trade.

Could this be summoned?

Racial HD is 5, so level 10 you could have one of these babies right?

Unlikely, unless your GM specifically allows that. You can use any of the skeleton variants listed on the skeleton page (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/templates/skeleton). Same thing with zombies. Skeletal mages, on the other hand, are a specific type of intelligent undead and therefore not actually skeletons by anything else than a rough description.
