How do these work? I know that the anthromorphic replaces their fins/hooves/paws/etc. with human-esque hands and feet, but in the case of the anthro-octopus, does it have them split up evenly between hands and feet? Can it breathe on the surface or does it have to hold its breath? What about the shark? All of the aquatic anthro's have me confused :smallfrown:

An anthropomorphic animal is bipedal even if the base creature Is not. So an anthropomorphic octopus would have 6 hands and 2 feet.

Aquatic Subtype: ...An aquatic creature can breathe underwater. It cannot also breathe air unless it has the amphibious special quality.

The creature's type is monstrous humanoid...Special Qualities: An anthropomorphic animal has darkvision with a 60-foot range. The type neither adds nor removes aquatic subtype or the amphibious quality. So if it couldn't breathe air before, it still can't.

Also the big sidebar of various anthropomorphic animals says:
2 The octopus and squid abilities jet and ink cloud only work when swimming. Octopi and squids can hold their breath out of the water twice as long as humans can hold their breath under the water.
3 Out of the water, cetaceans have blindsight 60 feet. They can hold their breath under water twice as long as a human.
4 Out of the water, sharks can detect creatures by scent in a 90-foot radius and cannot detect blood in the water unless they are submerged in that water. Sharks can hold their breath out of the water twice as long as humans can hold their breath under the water.

So unless its a highly aquatic campaign, I'd stray away from the aquatic ones :smallwink:

Thank you, I had completely overlooked the sidebar.
I won't be playing it, I'll have it as an NPC in the campaign I'm running when they hit the ocean. Anthromorphic military for a seafaring city on the coast.

This makes me want to be a (terribly awful) bard with a clarinet.

If you ever want to really play such a character, I must point you towards this thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=195049)! After all, Squidward is a "Bard" as much as Korg is a "Wizard"!

I love this thread! I've looked at it on several occasions!
