*This is an alternative to my earlier solo stealth fighter question*

I will be starting a new campaign. It will be just myself, with a friend DM'ing. In this campaign, rather than me playing all 4 characters in a full party, I will be playing a single, solo character. My character will be around level 10, with the campaign 2-3 levels lower to make soloing feasible. Mostly all DnD books are available.

I'd like some advice on a solo stealth mage build.

The primary goal of this character is interest and variety, over power.

Being primarily a mage, with low hit points, he's really going to have to rely on stealth and magical means to get himself out of any direct combat situations, and back into a stealthy position where has more of an advantage.

Current investigation leads to the following build idea:

Shadowcraft-Mage/ (http://dndtools.eu/classes/shadowcraft-mage/)

Boots_of_Elvenkind (http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Boots_of_Elvenkind)

Ring_of_Invisibility (http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Ring_of_Invisibility)

I had been thinking Warforged for the self-healing ability using a repair spell. Then I thought that a Warforged probably isn't very stealthy! I realise that Whisper-gnome would be the ideal class, but I've kind of fallen for the back-story below now, so I'd like to stick with Warforged!

Character back-story: A petty human thief who tried to steal from a powerful wizard. The wizard caught him in the act, and placed a potent curse on him that transformed his body into a Warforged. He served as a slave to the Wizard for a few years, before eventually escaping. His goal in life is to find a way to change himself back into a human, by learning the ways of the mystic arts and becoming powerful enough to undo his Warforged curse (effectively by becoming level 20, and probably killing the Wizard!). His Warforged form tends to alienate him from most other adventurers, meaning that he tends to adventure alone. During adventures, he combines his former stealth skills with his growing prowess in the mystic arts, to stealth his way dungeons, seeking treasures and artefacts that will help him with his personal quest towards humanity.
