View Full Version : Cooking Koala In The Kitchen

koalainthekitchen.wordpress.com

I've recently been learning how to cook and bake various odds and ends, as folks that went to the London mini-meet can attest to. I felt it'd be useful to me to keep a record of my progress and, as a result, I've started up a blog as well!

The site is pretty bare bones at the moment - when I get a chance this week, I'll look at doing some banners and backdrops to pretty things up a little. I might also look at a profile page for my kitchen assistant. :smallwink:

It took two seconds for him to push the “On” button and two hours to clean the walls afterwards.

LOL! Sounds like me when I try to use any sort of beater :smalltongue:.

I still haven't settled on a name for him yet.

Also trying to decide what to do for this week's entry - part of me wants a change of tack and to try copying an amazing blue cheese salad I had the other day. The other half wants to go with some rocky road rice crispy squares my mum used to make for me. Or maybe even a lasagne...

Entry 19: Of Stress and Stroganoff (http://koalainthekitchen.wordpress.com/2013/11/17/entry-19-of-stress-and-stroganoff/)

If you try this again, I recommend you try this amazing recipe for you (http://www.forksoverknives.com/recipes/chef-dels-mushroom-stroganoff/) that I use as an inspiration. (fun cooking site btw). I have found that sauteeing garlic then red onions gives a wonderful base to mushroom dishes.

You are a brave man. Turkish delights are very challenging because...uh...well, chemistry of this caliber is rough. For me. I lost a pan to this recipe once upon a time. It was a good friend.

Odds are I'm going to be working down there until the end of January, unless I a) make an enormous screw up or b) get bored. The money will allow me to pursue more interesting things with my life. On addition, on my way to work, I passed a place that offers cooking and baking courses. If it looks like it might be good, I'll sign up for some lessons and bring the Koala along....

Not sure what happened with that cake with the hole in the center. Did that break off when toppling it out of the form?

The Succubus
2015-05-07, 02:37 PM
A combination of a slightly underdone centre and a mishap when removing it from the tin. I thought I could remove the damaged bit and then decided just to start over. The ring eventually got chopped up into mini sponge cakes.
