I'm working on a swiftblade bard right now, and I'm having trouble combing the casting of his prestige classes.

He's got bard 7 before his prestige classes.
Spells Known: 6 zero, 4 first, 4 second, 3 third.
Spells per day: 3 zero, 3 first, 2 second, 0 third.
That's simple enough.

Then there's 10 levels of swiftblade gives me casting like a bard 13.
Spells Known: 6 zero, 4 first, 4 second, 4third, 4 fourth, 2 fifth.
Spells per day: 3 zero, 3 first, 3 second, 3 third, 2 fourth, 0 fifth.
Also pretty simple.

Next I want to take sublime chord, which grants its own casting progression that adds to what I've already got.
If I give him 3 levels of SC, he gets the following from the PrC.
Spells Known: 4 fourth, 2 fifth, 1 sixth.
Spells per day: 3 fourth, 2 fifth, 1 sixth.

So at the end of the day, how many spells does he have, both known and per day? Do I just add the two separate lists together? It would give me the following:

Spells Known:6 zero, 4 first, 4 second, 4 third, 8 fourth, 4 fifth, 1 sixth.
Spells per day: 3 zero, 3 first, 3 second, 3 third, 5 fourth, 2 fifth, 1 sixth.

You have two completely seperate pools:
Bard 13 and sublime chord 3.

This works the same as if you had wizard 10/bard10, or any other combo of classes that have their own spell casting progression, caster level, spells per day, and spells known.

In terms of optimization, advancing sublime chrod with spellblade will give you far more bang for your buck- you'll get ninth level spells.

Hmm, alright, I'll track them separately. Thanks.

Spellblade?
You mean spellsword? Or swiftblade?

RE: Optimizing
Take bard7/swiftblade3 (bard 9 casting)
Then take sublime chord at 11, (bard 9, SC1)
At level 12 then use swiftblade 4 through 9 to advance my sublime chord levels (bard 9, SC 5) seventh level spells at level 17.
Then finish off last 3 levels with something like abjurant champ? Maybe drop 2 levels of swiftblade for 2 levels of abjurant?

Yeah, swiftblade. SwiftChord is bitchin cause you get both 9ths and the swiftblade capstone.

Spuddles is right.
You want Bard X/SC Y/Swiftblade Z
where Y > 0
SC 1 should give you Haste, which you need for Swiftblade

If I wait on SC1 to start swiftblade, I'm gimping myself for waiting.
SC1 can't be taken until level 11, and bard gives haste anyway.
