Witches can get a familiar. But dear god...if Witches can get an Eidolon, they'd be at the top of tier 1.

It was posed as a question to me (doing kind of a test)
Exact question:

At what level does the Witch gain the Eidolon class feature?

Are you sure it's not a trick question, or that the person asking isn't simply mistaken, or referring to some weird homebrew? :smallconfused:

Well, I tried saying its a trick question. Here's what I got back:

how does my witch get an eidolon then?

So im just coming here to confirm >_<

Witches can get an eidolon by taking levels in the summoner class.

But thats not really the "Witch" getting the eidolon class feature.

1. By not being a witch.
2. By cheating or other nefarious means.

Witches don't get Eidolons.

No, but it's the only true answer to the question. You would have a character that had class levels in witch AND have an eidolon.

Yeh it seems that way. But the number one rule of summoner would then be broken.

The closest that you can get is this (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/evolved-familiar) and even that doesn't technically work since it calls for the familiar class feature while witches get Witch's Familiar.

Never. They don't get Eidolons.

Possible answer: when they take their first level of Summoner.

If you play with psionics, the dread has an archetype that grants a construct eidolon. Dreads are fear based, but certainly in no way confusable with witches. Definitely a trick question.

I suppose the answer could be 'when they can cast dominate a summoner'.

Agreed. Who is this person, and how badly can they misread things?

Perhaps by "Eidolon", he means the actual definition, which means some form of idealized or unreal spirit, like a ghost or an idol.

Arguably, this definition could include the Patron or familiar, both of which the Witch gainst at first level. Alternatively, the Summon Spirit hex may be gained at 18th or 20th level, which arguably summons an eidolon by the real-life definition.

....well....

There's the Rimefire Witch from Frostburn which can become bonded with a Rimefire Eidolon, but that largely depends how open your GM is to porting 3.5 material into your Pathfinder game.

Answer him: "she cannot. next question".
