Hopeless

Now I'm planning anadventure that sets up the return of a group of PCs from the dr who universe back to the star wars universe that another gm set up but felt unable to resolve themselves wanting to reboot it entirely.

All I originally had planned was to have the players select three character templates of which only 2 will be used in this game except for the player whose the normal gm as he still has his regular star wars character whilst the others are temporarily unavailable.

My storyline was to simply have one of the new characters to arrive with an urgent message for the GMs character from my character from his game asking him to urgently proceed to the following location under the premise that the message being delivered has been hacked and if he doesn't hurry the empire will capture his missing squadmates.

Taking the messenger and his unit with him as cover they arrive at the location and whilst the main ship heads down to the planet below the three fighter escorts scout out the area before heading back to orbit.

The location is a demolished clone troopers base with the precise location given revealing a hidden way inside whats left of the base.

Eventually they discover their missing characters stuck in suspended animation and although they release them they have to be carried out before they can return to the rebel fleet where they can get appropraite medical treatment.

Depending on any messing about an interdictor cruiser pops into the edge of the solar system as they're returning to outer space and unless they seriously mess things up they should easily jump clear before the imperials can get within range of them.

However in the offchance they decide to mess about the three fighters all Z-95's get to fight off a couple of TIE fighters to allow their ship to get offworld and absolute worst case the fighters can dock on the exterior of the main ship before it jumps out of the system.

What I'd like to know does that cover all the bases?

I plan to further this into an entirely separate campaign but only planned on a short introduction however my players assumed the worst making me wonder if I should just let them run one character each and use a standard freighter and see what happens when the interdictor turns up because they didn't understand why the fighters were supposed to be part of the game.

Sorry a mite annoyed since I felt I could resolve the previous game without problems and although I've clearly pointed out this is just a short teaser before it returns to the regular gm to run his planned adventure it feels like they want all of the campaign information even though they don't need it!
