View Full Version : Improving my ranged rouge/scout

So I'm looking at my rouge/scout and I'm pondering how I could improve it beyond what it currently is, without turning away from the build concept or turning to super cheese combos.

At the moment, my only real restrictions in a few "it doesn't exsist" rules.
Like belts of battle, artificer monicles, item familiar, knowledge devotion, and a certain ring that gives you a 1/day free counter/redirect.
Not to mention certain weapon abilities to gain half my damage from every hit.
Thing's we've abused to no end in previous campains. haha.

The build, at the moment has 3 levels of gastalt, and does not use fractional bab/saves.

the gastalt side was used for the racial HD of the template.
But the build is simply scout3/rouge6

the 1 adjust from the template was bought out at lv6, via UA rules.

It's currently focused on Crossbow Sniper and piling on sneak attack/skirmish to everything.

He's sitting at 67hp, a 29 ac, 31 if I move 10 feet, 33 if I move 20.

using a double light cross bow, with wand chambers, and two buckler axes, with wand chambers.

soon it will have the +1 ammo enchantment to hold lots of good bolts.
(my last one was destroyed in a botches reflex against an acid spray. sad)

The idea here is taking advantage of wand chambers and good combat utility wands. Grave bane and golem bane come to mind.
Only one of the bucklers give me the 1 ac, made pointless by a wand of shield.

feats, after 2 flaws. (-4 melee, -1ac)
(I AoO with my off hand buckler at -10 to hit! X3)

Swift Ambusher (rouge levels count for scout skirmish/ac)
improved Skirmish (+2d6 on 20 foot moves)
w-focus x-bow
x-bow sniper
rapid reload
craven

I get point blank shot and rapid shot from racial template, as well as long bow prof. ha.

other important gear atm is a +2 mythral shirt
skirmish boots
bracers of murder
a few stacks of shadow strike bolts (a must have)
lots of wands. shield, cures, golem/grave bane/ ebon eyes.

my combat outlook, atm is.
I normally hit at +13(+14 within 30 feet) for 1d6+4
or 2d6, firing two bolts.

moving 20 feet, mind you.

one sneak attack/skirmish at +18 to hit
if I fire both bolts, it's 2d6+4 +4d6+2 skirmish +6d6+11 sneak attack
rerolling all 1's on the sneak attack dice.
racial template gives 3d6 SA


35 minimal damage, 89 max. and this is repeatable. next level I can manage two attacks at +19/14 using skirmish boots and an extra 1d6 SA and 1d6 skirmish.

what else can I do to improve this? hopefully without moving away from rouge levels.

obviously, stacks of spell storing arrows is on my to-do list.
