Well ill be starting at level one, and i've played an Assassin several times, always as a Rogue/Assassin. I plan on using an Elven Thinblade, a Sniper Crossbow, and a Hand Crossbow. Now im not trying to super optimize, im just looking for good ideas, feats, skill tricks, spells etc.

Also ill be playing in this setting, http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=15163564#post15163564.

Spellthief 1/ Psion or Erudite or Ardent 4/ Psychic Assassin (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20040723d) 6/ Slayer (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/prestigeClasses/slayer.htm) 9
You'll need Practiced Manifester to qualify. Get the Mind Cripple trick from Psychic Assassin. One level of Spellthief allows you to freely use wands of any spells the class would eventually get access to, namely Wraithstrike. If you use fractional BAB then you'll have a +16 at 20th with Psion or Erudite, otherwise it will only go up to +15. Ardent gets you better BAB and higher level powers, but you'll definitely need to use Substitute Powers (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20070629a) to pick up choice powers without spending feats on Expanded Knowledge.

Good feats: Dead eye (dex to damage), craven (more sneak attack), and the twf chain to get dual-wielding hand crossbows.

Tips: Get some way of getting assassin's stance.

Spells: Spell Compendium carries multiple good ones for you. I'd suggest sniper's eye, sniper's shot, and others as such. If you decide to go a different path, going with Fire Shuriken is awesome.

I haven't personally done it yet, but a build that looks like fun would be cleric 3 (divine magician alternative feature from CM)/ Rogue 2/ any preferred combination of Assassin and Black Flame Zealot levels (though I would go BFZ 10/ Assassin 5).
Not only would you gain a few useful cleric spells (say you go trickery domain), you also gain access to some nifty wizard spells in addition to a limited set of assassin spells. The best part is that the leveled DC to the Death Attack stacks between both classes, including the paralysis i believe (though you can only get the paralysis from the assassin).
Great for sneaking in while someone is sleeping or not paying attention to you.

The assassin's handbook (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=8273.0) might be a place to start.

Talk your DM into letting you play a Naztharune MM3 it's a Rakshasa and extremely powerful. My DM let me tweak it to make it more fair but I am still the most powerful player in my group :smalltongue:
