I'm starting up an incantatrix (sorc 6 / incamtatrix 4) and I need some good ways of getting my spellcraft checks high. It can be sorc spells or cleric (we have a cleric in the groupe) or magic items, but pref not self made items.

I have an Incantatrix who also currently has 10 character levels and her Spellcraft checks is currently +33 (+35 with familiar using Aid Another).

- 13 ranks
- +3 Skill Focus (Spellcraft)
- +2 synergy bonus from Knowledge (Arcana)
- +6 Intelligence
- +2 Headband of Intellect +4
- +5 competence bonus (also built into the Headband)
- +2 Masterwork Tool (Spellcraft)

= 33

With the help of her familiar she hits DC 45 when taking 10, enough to e.g. persist 3rd level spells. There are also two party members who can also use Aid Another, so she can hit DC 48 with "take 10" for persisting 4th level spells (e.g. her Dragon Breath and Fell Drain Cloud of Knives and the cleric's Holy Transformation and Recitation).

There are optional rules for advanced usage of Aid Another that you might ask your DM about. These rules are in Complete Adventurer. The rules would allow people with high skill modifiers to add more than +2 when aiding another. Quite exploitable.

Some DMs might not like the added opportunity to op skill checks, in what is really already a slush fund of sources of skill bonuses, and it's most useful out of combat (like when the whole party is petitioning the local lord for x or y via Diplomacy).

I've bolded the two items where I would like a source where to find it?

The static bonus of +5 or +10 is in the DMG under the rules for making brand new magic items (similar to a Ring of Climbing, or a Ring of Swimming).

I'm unaware of a +2 mastercraft tool that aids spellcraft checks, since mastercraft tools are for... Craft skill checks (like Bowyer, Weaponsmith, etc.)

However... the Stronghold Builder's Guide, if you build a Magical Laboratory (basic) or (fancy) you get a circumstance bonus to Spellcraft checks of +2 or +4... but this is only to see if a new spell is viable.

Another thought; I use Donjon (http://donjon.bin.sh/), and have used the Random generator (http://donjon.bin.sh/d20/random/#magic_tome) for mundane and magical tomes, and sometimes those results have a +1 to +4 bonus to spellcraft... I'm unsure what OGL the website uses, or where those stats come from precisely... but my players are now bibliophiles in our game world, always looking for old libraries, book sellers, and the like for treasures of the literary world.

Item Familiar (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/magic/itemFamiliars.htm), specifically the Invest Skill Ranks benefit. Take this as early as possible (3rd level) and invest every skill point you get after that into it for the greatest return. Make it a ring, necklace, etc. that can be worn under other articles of clothing so opponents never have line of sight/effect to it. An item familiar is an intelligent item, which means it's treated as a construct, and constructs cannot be disabled or destroyed by dispelling or disjoining and they continue to function in antimagic and dead magic areas.

Adding Skill Bonus (Competence) (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/creatingMagicItems.htm) to an item costs Bonus squared × 100 gp, so for example a +10 bonus would be 10,000 gp. Skill bonuses on items can go up to +30 pre-epic (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/magicItems/basics.htm). Do this trick (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=267805#4), you can include that Competence bonus to spellcraft on your relic and adjust it based on your current ranks/bonuses and what DC you need to Persist your highest level spells. Don't forget to always take ten on those checks.
