As per the title, how many domains does a deity have? The expanded SRD's divine section is mute on the subject and I don't have Deities & Demigods at hand.

The Extra Domain salient divine ability description doesn't help at all, not having a "Normal" section.

A deity can grant as many domains as the GM decides it has, although the typical number seems to lie in the 4-8 range.

A cleric can typically choose any two domains from among those that his deity can grant. Those are chosen when he takes his first cleric level, and cannot normally be changed.

Not sure which feat you are thinking of. Bonus Domain is an epic feat from Complete Divine. It allows you to choose one additional domain from among those granted by your deity. Extra Domain Spell is from Miniatures Handbook, and effectively grants one extra casting per day of one of your domain spells.

There's probably Dragon mag and/or 3pp stuff that might do it.

Where is this "Extra Domain" feat from?

Sorry, my bad, it's a salient divine ability. I had the SRD open to it, no idea what I was thinking.

See here (http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/resources/systems/pennpaper/dnd35/soveliorsage/salientAbilities.html#extra-domain) or here (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/divine/divineAbilitiesFeats.htm).

It rather strongly implies that there's a set number of domains (IIRC by divine rank category?), but I have no idea what it is.

I coulnd't find the exact bit in Deities and Demigods, but a quick look at the stats of the gods shows that they all have 3 Domains, and those that have more have chosen the Extra Domain ability for each Domain above 3.

Alright, that works for me! Thanks!
