Succubus Energy Drain

So... like... does a Succubus have to be in a antimagic field to turn off her Su ability to drain levels? Or can she just choose not to use it when kissing? Can a Succubus get pregnant with Human or Elf etc.? :smallyuk:

If you want a proper Succubus harem then you need to collar them with collars that have auto resetting traps of Ability Rip to remove their ability to drain levels.

Or do Ability Rip + Inspire Greatness + Astral Seed to permanently remove the level drain.

Not sure if there's an answer in the rules for turning off energy drain. Seems obvious enough to me that they should be able to choose to use it or not.

As for the second, kissing isn't really required. :smallamused: Going back to AD&D, succubi are IIRC the primary source of the half-demons called alu-fiends (female) and cambions (male). Cambions got an official 3.5 update in Expetition to the Demonweb Pits. These are from unions with humans, but why not elves, too?

Energy Drain is usually an attack and while the specific wording for the succubus doesn't say it, it should be assumed that it always takes an action on her part. Otherwise most people she tries to seduce would just fall over dead instantly which would be rather problematic to keep up a cover as a humanoid woman.
Succubi are probably the most common demon ancestor for half-fiends. Any child a succubus would have with a mortal would have the fathers race plus the half-fiend template. In older editions, there even was a specific creature for these offspring. Alu-fiends, which were always female.
Under 3rd Edition rule, those half-fiends could be male as well.

Supernatural Abilities (Su)
Supernatural abilities are magical and go away in an antimagic field but are not subject to spell resistance, counterspells, or to being dispelled by dispel magic. Using a supernatural ability is a standard action unless noted otherwise. Supernatural abilities may have a use limit or be usable at will, just like spell-like abilities. However, supernatural abilities do not provoke attacks of opportunity and never require Concentration checks. Unless otherwise noted, a supernatural ability has an effective caster level equal to the creature’s Hit Dice. The saving throw (if any) against a supernatural ability is:

10 + ½ the creature’s HD + the creature’s ability modifier (usually Charisma).

But succubus do specify it needs and act or passion or a kiss.... I would assume in the context of combat a kiss would probably be a standard action.

As well as leaving behind a bunch of wights running around the next night as they were killed by negative levels.

Which would be an odd way for a zombie I mean wight apocalypse to start, simply from the actions of a single succubus working the red light district for a night in a city.
