A demon cockroach appears much as a standard cockroach though of considerable size and possessed of a thick, fiery red carapace. Oversized mouthparts protrude from its front, coated by harsh digestive juices that allows it to eventually digest most materials.

Demon cockroaches infest the lower planes, and are especially attracted to those of great power and evil. They are almost impossible to be rid of, able to withstand poison, disease and even the crushing weight of a descending foot. As well, they multiply with astonishing speed, soon swarming entire locales. If unthreatened they will usually surround their master, entertaining and quipping amongst themselves. They are particularly fond of cruel mockery and black humor that truley shows their evil nature.

Demon cockroaches speak abyssal, common, and infernal.

Combat
A demon cockroach tends to scurry away from threats unless they appear weak. They will then rush at the creature and bite it hungrily. While in large numbers their courage increases exponantially and while swarming few stand in their way.

Breath Weapon (Su): 10 ft. line of fire dealing 1d6 points of damage once per minute. A demon cockroach that is pinned or in some way immobilized can be made to use this breath weapon in the direction wished by using a DC 15 Knowledge (religion or the planes) check to contact key pressure points to trigger the reaction.

Infernal Hunger (Ex): A demon cockroach that deals 4 points of damage or more in a single bite to a creature of Small-size or larger may attempt to enter the wound unless the victim succeeds on a DC 12 reflex save. It may do automatic bite and acid damage each round within. The roach can be removed with a bladed weapon and a DC 10 heal check. The removal deals an additional 1d4 points of damage (DC 15 heal check halves the damage, for a minimum of 1). The reflex save DC is Dexterity-based.

In Search of the Fallen (Su): A demon cockroach can sense the general direction of the highest HD creature with an evil alignment within up to 20 miles. The roaches will attempt to seek out the creature and once met act as Charmed in reguards to the being.

Skills: Demon cockroaches have a +8 racial bonus on Climb checks and can always choose to take 10 on Climb checks, even if rushed or threatened. They also gain a +4 bonus on Hide, Move Silently, and Perform checks. They use their Dexterity modifier instead of their Strength modifier for Climb and Jump checks.

Naw, they aren't creatures partially made of fire that I can tell, and then that'd give them vulnerability to cold.

How does this make them different from mundane cockroaches?

To quote someone else... This thread is made of pwn.

Shouldn't they be true neutral? The roaches never really help one side or another, they just... float around. They don't really care about law and chaos, or good and evil, just what's on Scry TV.

Okay, okay, maybe chaotic neutral. If daring someone to open a bag is chaotic neutral. They still don't seem the evil type though.

Their opposites were angelic cockroaches.

Yeah, these are awesome! I love all the little touches, and being able to use them as an impromptu cannon makes me muse over their strategic possibilities. No real complaints here, I'd say.

VT goodness + OOTS goodness in the same place =
"Power overwhelming!!!" :smallcool:

Great nasty little nuisance value, flesh-burrowing, fire-breathing vermin (even before they open their mouths to add obnoxious commentary). I'll have to give these guys a walk-on part sometime.

VT done good again.
Now hurry up and publish so I can give you some $$$s in exchange for all the fun you've given me in the last year!

Organization: Harrassment (2-6)...

Hmm... The roaches haven't really played any role in aiding Xylon. I would cut down on the "find evil overlords" theme and just say that they stick where they can find food (as they are introduced after Redcloak chews CitD out about being messy in the evil scry-viewing den), and that they like hanging out around evil sentients that don't attempt to kill them every five minutes.

Ooh, I spot a The Mummy reference!

 Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic.

That said, it doesn't qualify for Diehard(no Endurance), and it really makes more sense as a bonus feat anyway.

Not to mention the whole swarm and kill/eat things is sort of odd for an angelic version that's supposed to be sort of good-aligned.

Maybe swarm and shout encourgement at allies... bard song effect maybe?

I just love the idea of an ability Angelic Hunger that let's the creature burrow into creatures and eat them alive.
