Hello, playground!
You may have seen me lurking around here, posting a bit, mainly in OOTS forums, by no means a big profile figure.
But I am very excited to make this announcement, and wanted to post it for a while now. A year ago me and my two friends, one from Germany and one from Romania, had started working on our own medieval fantasy RPG, which would combine graphics and enforced roleplaying, and would be driven by in-character interactions.
Our motivation for this project was a lack of filling the market niche, really. When you search Google for a graphical free online roleplaying game, you really don't hit much, except a few free Ultima Online RP shard servers and Planeshift.
So we decided to create our own, and most of the core framework and basic graphics layout have been completed, so now we gladly present to you the world of Eiradir (http://www.eiradir.org).
We are a 2D isometric view RPG with 8 directional movement. We feature a magic and an alchemy systems, crafting, farming, terraforming, land conquest, thievery, lockpicking, and of course, combat. We are an in-character open ended persistant world sandbox, classless with openly trainable skills which go up by doing certain actions.
The focus of our game is on character storytelling, which means we encourage players to stay IC and speak/act on behalf of the character they create.
There is still much work to be done, systems to finish coding, graphics to create, and as there are only 3 of us, we are now officially recruiting talents.
If you are a self motivated programmer with Java experience and willingness to learn, or if you are a 3D artist/animator, who would like to try to render us beautiful player paperdolls and fill our world with horrifying creatures, please do let us know and join us, put your hand into crafting our game! We will be happy to work with you!
