Hey Guys, Smiling Imp here. Just wanted to know about my mod, which adds the majority of NPC from the original game into the sequel and expansion. It is broken down into different components for easy mixing and matching with other mods that add BG1 NPCs and adds a mini-city area called the Water Gardens. This mod is always being updated so any feedback and suggestions are welcome. :thog:

How does it affect the interactions if you run into a character that appears or dies in BG2, but isn't playable, like Khalid or Xzar? Did they seem ignorant of the fact that there is a doppleganger of themselves running around, or is there hi-jinx scripted in?

Thanks for taking some interest in the mod.

I'm sorry, but I don't think I understand completely. If you are talking about Throne of Bhaal, some of the NPC dialogs assume that you at least restored their SoA selves. That means when you summon Xzar via the fate's summoning in the Abyss, he will talk to you as if the SoA stuff happened, so no explanation as to why he is still alive after been struck down by Lucette.

Otherwise, the SoA NPCs from this mod don't really mess with the NPC interactions that already happen in the game. For example. Garrick's sweetheart, Lady Irlana will still run off with Cyrando, but you will have the chance to meet up with him later.

Hope that helps a little :smalleek:

Okay, so you mean that you recruit them after you meet them chronologically in SoA? I assume you have to resurrect them if they die canonically? It might make the Jaheira romance a bit awkward if Khalid is still alive.

Actually Khalid and Dynaheir are the only two that don't make an appearance in the mod. You are correct, far too much coding and dialog searching/changing that would have to happen. I was debating on whether or not to take on the challenge, but it would also change/invalidate the dialogs of bioware NPCs, my NPCs and NPCs from other mods, so I don't think I want to go that route.

The only way I could see them making an appearance without changing several dozen dialogs is to make them undead servants of Bodhi so that way talks about them 'dying' will not be so out of place. Dynaheir as a vampire and Khalid as a Zombie/ghoul. It may be easiest scenario to code, but it also changes the nature of the characters very much, so I am still not sure about this one.

As far as everyone else, the ToB NPCs need some of the SoA files in order to work, so technically speaking, you can't bring in their ToB versions without installing their SoA versions first. So for example, you can't bring Xzar back just for ToB if you did not bring him back for SoA. Therefore, after using the fate summoning, he will act like already have knowledge that he cheated death in SoA.

Since Quayle is Aerie's adoptive father in BG2, does he have any sort of banter interaction with her? How exactly did he find time to open up a circus in between BG1 and BG2? It's not like there was a lot of downtime there.

Oh yeah, he banters with her quite a bit. He also banters with Tiax and Jan Jansen a great deal, as well as the other bioware NPCs.

As far as how he managed to open a circus in that short amount of time, I really did not explore that. I left the dialogs as is, then had him join with the party after bantering with Jan. However, that is something that could be explained in more detail in later updates. My first thought is that he was able to open up so quickly because of his superior intellect, but I am always open to suggestions.

Smiling Imp: As you may know, I recently installed your mod (other thread you posted an advertisement in).

:smallannoyed: I was not prepared for the added complication in the Circus quest. Not only were those things tough and kept respawning, I had to use every trick I knew short of playing the system against itself to survive. I was just out of Irenicus's dungeon too.

Well done. :smallamused:

That last key was a pain in the rear to find.

**spoiler**
Basilik and a Cockatrice? Really? I'd have been SOL if my main character hadn't of still known stone to flesh from my BG1 game. Giants and trolls and boulders flying! Was it you that gave trolls those spell-like abilities!? Sheesh! And was it those ice giants throwing around those wierd fireball things?

I spent half an hour trying to find that freaking ochre jelly (or whatever it was) that was up on the cliffs. The way up there was cleverly disguised.

Most people go running out of the room screaming in terror after trying the extended circus quest so kudos to you for making it out alive! :smallwink:

If you are using the Kagain component of the mod, one of the stores it adds sells SCRL73 (Protection From Petrification) at the Promenade so you can load up before the Circus of Chaos!

I believe it too. I didn't even know that had been added and was taken completely off guard.

I am loving the mod so far. So many new characters and banters... Makes the game seem new again.
