Flag of Inside, flown over all Remnant and Government Installations

Current Events: A Marmite shortage has been reported in the slums! Is anyone brave enough to gather the much needed yeast extract?

The title is a misnomer, of course. No doubt the moniker of this place was settled on after a brief conversation that started with, 'Wouldn't it be funny if...?'. But now the name has stuck.

But what is this place, you ask?

Inside is everything within the City Walls. As opposed to Outside, which is everything without. This strange, whimsical city is the center of a planar Nexus, a crossing point between all possible (and some impossible) worlds. One can find just about anything in this wondrous place, dreams that defy imagination and terrors that freeze the soul. People and whole places are regularly drawn into the Nexus, added to the chaotic melting pot of all realities.

The city is surrounded by defensive walls, with an artificially and accidentally created moat outside the walls, a moat that has been diverted into a river-channel for one many bodies of water flowing through Inside. A gap in the walls and a bridge allow for entrance into the city proper, the main gate opening up to welcome newcomers Inside.

Welcome, traveler, to the City of Inside. The only boundaries you find within are the bounds of your own imagination.

Rules

Rules

1:Please Spoiler any Fanservice in this thread! It is accepted that there will of course be some, and that romance and curtains happen. However, please be courteous to others and spoiler any scene that goes on for a little while, and if it reaches the point, curtain. This is so you can stay within forum rules, as well as letting those uninterested in the scene, pass by. Thank you.

2:Godmodding is not permissible! As stated in the rules in the FFRP Central Thread, (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=166066), godmodding is generally not allowed without permission. If you're shaky on what might be, and what might not be godmodding, please follow the above link.

3:The DOOM-Shield. Inside is currently equipped with a techno-magic shield that mitigates "global" effects to a survivable level. This is to prevent anyone from simply killing all the NPCs, or affecting the entire city. For example, a plot that envelops the entire city in sub-arctic temperatures, will find that the cold isn't as bad as it should be, and survivable.

4:Remnant. Please remember when doing any plots or large events, that even though it has it's own thread, Remnant (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=211872), the Inside Police Force and Army, is located in Inside, and may respond to events, or may be asked to respond to them.

4:All Inside-Wide/Nexus-Wide plots need to be brought up in OOC first! We all want to have the entire city be cast into a frozen wasteland from time to time, but such things need to be brought up in OOC first, to allow players plenty of warning, and so people don't feel like anything is being forced upon them that they don't want to RP.

5:Inside is not Space! Anything involving massive spaceships, meteors, satellites, Lasers From Space, and the like, do not belong in this thread. Few PCs have the ability to fight off an orbital bombardment, so it is considered unfair to be able to call down such things inside Inside. It can be assumed that the Doom Shield prevents such things from occurring. The place for these sorts of things should be in Outside, or another thread all together.

Zones and Streets
Zones:
In the Zone(s): The City of Inside is separated into three zones that represent the general threat level color coded for your convenience.

The Blue Zones are upper-class, well to do portions of Inside. You're pretty darn safe here.

The Grey Zones consists of the more traditionally urban parts of inside. Certainly no gated community, but it isn't immediately life threatening either.

The Red Zones represents the parts of the City that are degenerate, destitute, or downright dangerous. Sometimes all of the above. If you're poking around a Red Zone be ready to get jumped by Orks or ghouls or killer robots or something.

Streets:

Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Hodgepodge Street? The City of Inside also has a number of Streets. The Streets aren't a street in the literal sense, but rather portions of the City with a particular theme. While one can find anything anywhere in the City there are none the less areas were certain settings predominate. The Riftline monorail public transit system allows for quick and easy access between the many Streets of Inside. Best of all it's fast and free!

If you have an idea for a Street feel free to suggest it in the OOC thread.

Hodgepodge Street: The generically modern setting! Hodgepodge Street is perhaps the most plastic of the Streets, displaying a decent mix of all settings, though modern predominates. Generally speaking most locations without a Street name will be found here. The most commonly seen locations here are the Streets and the Slums. Occasionally The Rooftops if someone is feeling daring.

Steele Street: Need a Victorian location with all sorts of choking industrial pollution? Need an always-night urban landscape with superficial resemblance to 1800s London? Well Steel Street is by far the best place Inside to come down with Black Lung Disease! With spooky stinky fog, gross waterways, and the occasional murderer who may or may not be spring-heeled. Come for the fish and chips! Stay for the gritty atmosphere!

Arkham Street: Spanning 1920s-1930s style fantastic horror, Arkham Street is home of such spooky locations as Philip Memorial Library, the haunted Carter House, and Dunwich Park. Ah Arkham Street, where the clustering gambled roofs sway and sag above the attics where witches hid from the king's men in the dark olden days of Town. The Town is gone, but the witches are still here! And the monsters, and the cultists, and the regular folks just trying not to lose their minds.

Metropolis Square: It's Atom Age or Deco Punk or whatever you want to call it! 1930-50s era retro science fiction with ray guns and mad scientists and nuclear powered robots who just want to learn the meaning of love. This part of Inside is known for its slick hats, era cars, smooth jazz, a robotic workforce, and square-jawed heroes.

The Skyway: High up above the tops of the tallest skyscrapes one can find The Skyway! A high future urban cityscape of floating buildings of glass and chrome and steel and plastic. And a space port too, if you feel like leaving the planet for whatever reason. Think Jetsons with more foot paths. Riftline, of course, grants access to The Skyway to for those not blessed with flying cars.

Need some cyberpunk action? You got some cyberpunk action! The gritty future of cyber-criminals clashing against government and corporate forces! With cyborgs and hackers and stuff! Grungy urban sprawl, a decaying job market, and an oppressed underclass mark this area of Inside. Burnt Chromes Street is the distopian counter-point to The Skyway's more optimistic vision of what the future holds.

Market Street: Market Street is the ye olde portion of Inside, complete with bards, fools, open market places, and the occasional damsel in distress. While products of any age can be found in the sprawling street booths everything is done ye olde style-e. If you need a chase scene to crash through a fruit-cart this is the place to do it.

Deadwood Street: The wild, wild west. Located on the edge of Inside this is the western part of the city. And that means any kind of western. From spegetti to steampunk to magical. Whether you need to hang around a saloon, have a duel a high noon, or go riding off into the sunset Deadwood Street is your best bet.

PokéStreet: By popular demand! This one should be obvious enough. PokéCenters and PokéMarts and PokéGyms and PokéParks and PokéNarwhals and everything else Poké-related! Great place to visit if you feel like watching some adorable animals beat the tar out of each other. Just watch out for the tall grass. You never know what might be lurking in there.

Locations
Azik's Enchantments(Player: Harnel, Grey Zone)

Those in the area will hear a rumbling as the Nexus begins pulling in something larger than just a single person. Reality bends, and the shape of portal opens above a certain street corner. For a sickening moment, nothing happens, but then things start coming out of the portal - all of them are bricks, building up finally to a door and a roof, with tiny windows built in. There's even a large chimney sticking out of the center of this strange, conical building that begins puffing rainbow smoke almost immediately.

A creature steps out the front door, though many wouldn't consider it a creature - He is a warforged, a living golem. Covered in what appears to be adamantine plates, he looks up and down the street, his longcoat catching in the breeze. as it flutters, one can see a multitude of wands, schema, and scrolls all attached to several belts around his waist and upper legs. On his eyes he wears a pair of blue tinted shades, despite his lack of ears, and the metal orbs that serve as his eyes glow green behind these spectacles. He looks up and down the street. He doesn't seem to be particularly disturbed by the change in location, but he does take the time to call out, in a metallic voice:

"Azik's Enchantments is open for business! Come find a potion, a wand, a scroll to fit any need! We have spellbooks for beginners and experts! Weapons of all shapes and sizes, and armor unlike anything you've ever seen! Come find what you're looking for here!"

And then he heads back inside. So much work, so little time. Inside is as strange as outside, with magic trinkets lining the walls on shelves, but all behind the counter, to keep any stupid kid with the idea to steal something from doing so. You can find just about anything magical here, and that which you can't find, Azik the Warforged can make within a more than reasonable timeframe.

Emergency Bunkers

Eight bunker-like structures in a ring-like arrangement at about the midpoint between the walls (or the docks) and the center of the city have been completed.

The interior of each is rather dull, rather befitting a bunker, but there are underground areas beneath the visible bunkers. These are similarly dull and military-styled, but they also act as hospitals.

These are mostly designed with emergencies such as shelling in mind, and are usually closed.

Emergency Clinics
Like the bunkers the clinics are spread through-out the City and are equipped with technology akin to a modern emergency room. Since there's no magical healing available the speed of recovery is going to be noticeably lower than what is available at one of Inside's many temples. However their availability makes them absolutely vital in the application of life-saving care.

Erin's Emporium (Player: The Bushranger, Grey Zone)

Construction Gnomes have been hard at work renovating a small store along one of the various merchantile roads. Well, it was small. Now it's bigger on the inside.

And filled with every sort of weaponry imaginable, from across the multiverse. From blaster carbines to P-90s, surface-to-air missiles to ballistas, zats to nunchucks, they're all here.

Is that a siege crossbow sitting in the corner?

Evolution Industries Headquarters + Factories (Player: Darkcomet, Blue Zone)
The headquarters of the company known as Evolution Electronics and Power is a fairly standard-looking modern-day tower in appearance, not quite reaching the level of skyscraper.

The company owns a large factory nearby, used in production of its MACE units, and potentially other products, should it be desired.

The company also possesses a number of other factories around the city, used for production of weaponry and other military materiel.

Retail outlets for Evolution's products are scattered around the city.

Finders Keepers (Player: Reinholdt)

[Gray Zone]

Sitting right near the edge of the Red Zone, a new shop has opened up. It's a basic looking office, part of a larger building. Out front is a sign,

FINDERS KEEPERS*
We find missing people, kidnapees, deadtime victims and more.

*And no we don't actually keep them. It's just a name.

Inside, is a secretary typing away at a typewriter. She directs customers to wait until their turn, at which point she sends them back to meet the shop owner, one Heinrik Hurtz. He is most clearly not related to any superheroes whatsoever. This is a fact in and of itself, proven clearly by the fact that Heinrik wears glasses.

http://i455.photobucket.com/albums/qq276/Reinholdt9000/Gaia/HeinrikHurtz.png

Hastings and Sons Mortuary (player: Kid Kris, Grey Zone)
Near one of the older parts of the city sits a large and somewhat dour building of brick and mortar, built in the traditional sense, with a metal plaque by the door that reads (predictably enough):

Hastings and Sons
MORTUARY
For the preparation of the dearly departed.
And indeed, should one go in one should find all the trappings of a conventional mortuary, including several large visitation rooms, run by this guy:

http://public5.tektek.org/img/av/1008/d05/2213/715a669.png (http://tektek.org/avatar/38746382)
Though of course, usually without the zombie there.
In recent times however, the true business of the resident Mortician has branched into a more heretical bent, offering certain services to the living impaired (more commonly known as the foul Undead). These start at simple healings and flesh grafts (the flesh occasionally obtained 'legitimately', when a body comes in for cremation and the Mortician gives them an urn full of wood-ash, but usually corpses are obtained through donations from customers or good old fashioned grave-robbing). But services can also range into body part replacement and augmentation for the undead who wishes his creator had seen fight to give him a giant lobster claw or retractable venomous spines, or even full body/flesh reconstruction for the self-conscious lich (or lich in disguise, though making your new flesh look like someone else usually costs extra) or the zombie in his golden years. These customers usually come in through the back door, where there is a plaque listing the full list of services. Though of course some are brazen enough to come through the front door anyway.

((PM if you wish to interact with the Mortician, as Kid Kris may not always check the thread.))

MagMart (Player: Lord Magtok, Blue Zone)
An absurd mash-up of K-Mart, Wall-Mart, Target, and every other vile retail chain, MagMart is staffed by an unswervingly loyal Magbots, lobotomized talking cats that are too brain-dead to know any better, several voodoo spirits, and a pickle jar that everyone insists is a sentient being that only communes with those who truly believe in it.

Here you can find everything from curtains to carpets, macaroni to monkeys on motorcycles, groceries to zombies. The staff is always happy to help (or else), and if you aren't entirely satisfied with your shopping experience, you can pay a small fee to watch the MagMart employee of your choosing get fired out the MagMart complimentary employee morale cannon.

Magnificus Theater (Red Zone)
This large theater is an attempt to bring culture to the city of the Inside. Plays are regularly show here, and if desired other events can be held here.

The walls of the theater are colored with three shades of blue in a wave pattern. Inside the theater are a pair of grand staircases, with the railing colored gold, while the stone of the stairs is white. The stage itself is one of the largest in the Nexus, carefully designed for the greatest enjoyment.

Rules: Please, no violence. If you must have some violent action in a theater, pm me first.

Sable Spire (Blue Zone)
A great, black-colored tower now stands at the highest point of the Skyway. Appearing mostly similar to a modern-day skyscraper, albeit more futuristic, reinforced, and armored. Upon close examination, some parts of the tower appear to conceal compartments of some sort, likely something along the lines of concealed defensive turrets. the top portion of the tower is rather different in appearance.

It appears as a truly massive hatch, similar to what one might see over a missile silo under normal circumstances.

This hatch opens into the landing area of the aerial aircraft carrier Sanctuary, the main asset of the Altaran Irregulars. Said landing area is set to act as an elevator, capable of moving up to the top of the tower or moving back down to conceal whatever is landed (usually the aforementioned carrier) under the heavily armored hatch.

The Spire, constructed by Remnant in an alliance with the Altaran Irregulars, is now a major base for the the latter, who currently act alongside Remnant in protecting the city. Their troops largely use the same equipment as Remnant's, but use the old Imperial black-and-navy color scheme to distinguish themselves.

The Misspelled Cemetary (Grey Zone)
It's the rain that makes for the perfect atmosphere.

Since the party left the well lit cobbles lanes of the Market Streets the sky has opened up upon our intrepid band of adventurers with a vengeance. The wind howls through barren trees as the rain descends in sheets. The heavens are split by a ribbon of lightning and a roar of thunder.

A massive cast iron gate surrounds this place of once hallowed ground. Yes, hallowed once but no longer. The earth appears dead. Rotten. A phosphorescent green fog creeping along the ground. Misshapen fungus and molds clinging to crumbling monuments. Corpses exposed on the surface, half-eaten with decay.

The gate creeks open of its own accord as the party nears.

And above the gate, in rusted iron letters, reads:

The Misspelled Cemetary

The The Temperance Teahouse (Grey Zone) Owned by Artemis

http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/1783/temperanceteahouse3xphde.png

http://www.valleyofisk.com/wp-content/uploads/wpsc/product_images/teahouse.jpg

In an old section of the city stands a wooden building of ancient construction. From inside comes the sound of good conversation and, occasionally, music being played. The scents of exotic teas, spices, and good foods drift out onto the street. along with the scents and sounds come an aura of peace and comfort. It's a nice place here, you could definitely stick around for a while, to escape the general madness of the city.

Two wings extend out from the main building. To the north (the right side as you face the tea house) is an extension of the main structure, still made of wood, the architecture is slightly different and more brightly colored, and also noticeably newer. The west side of the building is surrounded by a stone wall, enclosing a garden. The garden ends at a low stone building running the length of the west wall.

[Restaurant]Inside the restaurant is filled with tables and chairs, spread out across the dark hardwood floors. Thick wooden pillars support the second floor and the roof, their tops carved with geometric designs. At the north side of the restaurant is a long counter, surrounding an open kitchen. Steam and smoke drift up from the fires and the woks used for cooking. A shelf along the back wall is filled with dozens of tins, each containing a particular tea or herbal blend. Interspersed among them are tea kettles, each one used to brew a particular type of tea.

The center of the restaurant is open to the second floor. Stairs lead up to more seating on the second level, which looks down on the restaurant below over carved wooden balconies. The ceiling above the open space is painted with a mural of a golden dragon floating through the clouds and circling the sun.

Seats on the west side of the building go fast, as they offer the best view of the gardens. The south and east sides offer views of the bustling streets below. The north side of the second floor has no windows and sits above the kitchen, so it is often darker and smokier than the rest of the restaurant.

[North Wing]The north wing of the restaurant is of newer construction. It is more brightly painted and more heavily decorated than the main restaurant. Two doorways on each floor lead to a U shaped hallway that runs through the north wing. Sliding paper screens from the inner walls, so that they can be slid aside and make the spaces much larger. The lower floor holds private rooms that can be reserved for larger parties or special meetings. These rooms typically have a long low table surrounded by cushions. The second floor rooms have more flexible floor plans. Most have tables and chairs, often used to host card or board games. A few can be rented out for sleeping quarters, but patrons are reminded that the walls are, literally, paper thin. Disruptive behavior will have you evicted without a refund.

[Garden]The west wing of the tea house is a large garden surrounded by stone wall. A circular gate leads directly from the garden to the streets, as well as doors leading into the restaurant. The garden itself is carefully kept, trees and bushes trained and cut into pleasing shapes. Stone lanterns and statues decorate the garden. Two pools filled with koi fish sit diagonally from one another, connected together by a stream filled with river rocks. The sound of trickling water fills the garden. A winding path leads through the garden and over a low stone bridge. On the far side of the bridge, the path passes through another circular gate guarded by two stone dragons on plinths. the pair stare down at any visitors, questioning their intentions in passing through their gate.

Beyond the Dragon Gate the path becomes perfectly straight. On either side are large black stones surrounded by carefully raked white sand. The path passes under a red Torii gate before encountering the low stone building at the far side of the garden. The building runs the full length of the west wall and is open to the garden. Large prayer wheels line the opening and are turned by the breeze or visiting people. The walls within the building are heavily decorated and covered in hanging scrolls. At the center of the building is a shrine, covered in candles. Behind it is a mural depicting scenes of a warrior, a golden dragon, and the sun. Sitting on the shrine a wooden statue of a warrior, sitting in meditation, his sword set aside. The wood is lacquered and carefully inlaid with delicate patterns in gold. From the statue emanates a strong aura of peace, which spreads throughout the entire property.

NPCsHideki - A large man with a red face and a long nose, he is most often found in the kitchen, cooking up tasty things.
Hanako - An older woman, her black hair streaked with grey. She is Hideki's wife and most often found behind the counter serving tea.
Sakura - A lovely young woman and the daughter of Hideki and Hanako. She acts as a waitress and sometimes plays music.

OOC: Please Read. Important information.
The Teahouse and garden are protected by an aura of non-violence. Violent acts cannot be committed here. You cannot attack another patron or do anything that would cause them bodily harm. Anyone who attempts it will find it extremely hard to convince themselves to do it. If a particularly willful person overcomes this compulsion, something in the environment will intervene, as if by seemingly random chance, to protect their victim as if by divine intervention. Because that's exactly what it is.

Needle and Thread (Blue Zone, Player: Artemis97)
On one side of a wide cobblestoned street is a small shop. The sign hanging over the door depicts a simple spool of thread, pierced by a needle. No words were included, as a courtesy to those who could not read, nor were they needed. It was clear from the merchandise displayed in the two large windows on either side of the door that this was a clothing boutique. The right side displayed the latest in women's fashions, dresses and skirts in unique designs, all detailed by hand with beading and embroidery. The left window showed men's clothing, from a beautifully tailored three piece suit, cut from expensive fabrics, to the very best in adventuring style, rugged and sturdy, clearly built to last.

Inside, racks and manequins display more clothing, split down the middle between men's and women's fashions. The back wall held rolls of fabric, some plain, others with obviously magical properties. A large, three-sided mirror sits in the back corner, next to a small changing stall. On the other side is a small counter holding a cash register, behind that the door that led to a small workroom.

The Needle and Thread is a clothing shop specializing in custom tailoring and specialty designs. It is owned and operated by Lillith Rock, and the kindly fiendish woman can usually be found behind the counter, or working on orders in the back workroom.

Pontius' Custom Constructs (Player: Earl of Purple, Grey Zone)
The caravan of 6 wagons (I never said 3! Well, I did, but still.) arrives at a warehouse, previously for sale. The gnomes lead the golems and other constructs inside, and get to work. The warehouse has an open yard at the main entrance, and several golems, like crude figures of worked stone or wood, stand in the yard. A gnome wearing an apron over smart-yet-practical artesan's clothes and puts a sign up.

Sanctuary Fortress of Zoemaytare (Player: Rebonack, Red Zone)

Like so many other prominent buildings in Town, or not so prominent buildings for that matter, this place seemed to pop up out of nowhere over night.

Buildings are like mushrooms in Town. Probably spread via spores, too.

Regardless, here it is. A rather sizable campus marble hewn from the mountains some distance away. Carved and hauled here near the edge of the slums where they were no doubt assembled. Though... no one can quite place a finger on when this happened.

Though the buildings aren't of only cold hard stone, no. There are timbers as well. Not what one might expect, however. They seem almost organic. As though they had grown into place rather than being hewn.

Oddness aside, the temple is arranged in a rather interesting fashion. Several concentric wall and courtyards ending in a central temple.

The outer wall is lower than the rest, each tier of the temple built onto higher ground like a wedding cake. Each wall is topped with a roof supported on the inside by pillars, creating a sheltered walkway. The exact use of these porches depends on the section of the temple one happens to be in.

Anyone is allowed entry through the first wall and into the first court, the Court of Meeting. Beyond the second wall only worshipers of Zoemaytare are allowed admittance to the second court, the Court of the Blessed. Beyond the third wall only the priests are allowed, where they carry out holy rituals within the temple itself.

The Court of Meeting is dedicated to service of those the worshipers of Zoemaytare dwell among. Food is prepared for the hungry here and given out without expectation of recompense. Those without a place to lay their head are allowed to sleep within the porch. The grounds beyond the porch are devoted to a wondrous garden boasting vibrancy and spectacular color. This are is always comfortably warm and brimming with life. Wounds heal faster as the body is refreshed. Undead creatures will find that remaining here is decidedly uncomfortable.

The sky above the temple seems to be perpetually clear, filled with pleasant sunlight in the day and cloaked with gossamer stars at night. Benches are set up here and there, under trees with hanging branches and above fragrant shrubbery. A lively stream flows endlessly in a circuit about the Court, spilling into several larger pools and meandering up a small outcrop of stone before cascading back down the other side.

This section of the temple is tended by members of the faith. Not priests, though devote. They can be found tending the garden and serving warm food. When in service to the temple these devotees wear a white linen ephod bearing the symbol of a willow tree, ornately rendered in blue thread. They'll be more than happen to answer any questions. Priests tend to have stricter ceremonial garb, including a blue tunic and white robe in addition to the ephod.

Welcome, traveler. May you be more blessed when you leave than when you came.

New information that isn't readily noticeable at first glance at the temple will be added here.

The temple grounds are protected by a dampening field that blocks unauthorized teleporation and dimensional shifting. The place is something of a fortress after all. Being able to pop in and out at will would defeat the purpose.

Zoemaytare isn't a god of (fill in the black) but rather the patron and protector of her people. As such, her domain, if she even has one, is over all that her people do. The people in question are collectively known as the Zoeos, and this particular temple is their first major venture into Town. At present their stated goal is to set up trade relations and aid the city. This is ministered through the temple on account of the Zoeos government being a theocracy.

It just so happens that there's a dungeon under the temple, though the entrance to it is well hidden.

NPCs thus far:

Potentate of the temple: the head priest and administrator. He has yet to be seen 'on screen' though he has been referred to.

Regent Zachius: And elderly human with a coppery complexion and deep-set wrinkles, the sort of face one expects of a person who has spent a great deal of time in the sun smiling. He's a kind old fellow who is in charge of the Court of Meeting.

Regent Stephen: A younger human who smells rather distinctly of wolf. He's in charge of the dungeons of the temple and seems to be a rather caring and compassionate fellow. It's his job to bring the cases of prisoners before the Potentate.

Regent Thadeus: One of the priests who aids in minor upkeep in the temple proper. He usually isn't seen outside the temple and since his position doesn't put him in much contact with the common folk he tends to be somewhat aloof and judgmental. Also happens to be an elf. Those snooty elves!

Bognus Thundershield: a lay dwarf that operates the temple's teleporter, primarily from Trog's. Though people can be 'ported in from elsewhere as well. While it isn't commonly known, this device can send people over rather long distances, though it's somewhat inaccurate when doing so. Bognus is a bit gruff, though generally good natured. He speaks with a thick Scottish Dwarven accent.

St. Guinevere's Sanatorium for Lunatics and Object Seekers (Player: Anyone, Gray Zone)
This insane asylum exists for people questing after Objects from the Holders Mythos. Anyone can run an Object quest, but please look at the community agreed guidelines first (http://tinyurl.com/5w42x5c) as it helps keep things consistent.

If you want to use the Sanatorium for other uses, feel free, but expect it to be a house of unspeakable horrors. :smalltongue:

The Sitar's Strings
"By humans, for humans". This restaurant employees only humans and only serves human customers. It is a meeting place for the human supremacist movement. IC Owned by Brian Starling and managed by Jan Lamar. Non-humans with good disguises can get in without being challenged.

Players: (HT as owner/manager, C'nor as waitress Maeve, Mindfreak as entertainer Treb)

The Temple of Dalachrech (Player: Earl of Purple, Grey Zone)
The first room entered is a foyer. On the walls are red drapes with silver, two-tailed scorpions embroidered on to them, and next to the door is an ornate font. The granite font stands about waist height, and is a plinth with a bowl of unholy water. Winding around the font are carved centipedes. A door away from this chamber leads to the main prayer hall. This room also has drapes with the two-tailed scorpion device on the walls, and a red velvet carpet flanked by wooden pews leads to an altar at the far end. The altar is covered with red velvet, with a gold statue and red candles placed upon it. The statue depicts a demon with a centipede's body, a scorpion's tail with spinnerets next to the sting, a stag beetle's head and the claws of a praying mantis.

This is a hidden location in the Grey Zone. Please PM Earl of Purple if you wish to interract there. The Temple is now open to the public.

Trollfinger, Ironpick & Greencheek, Mining & Engineering (Player: Morty, Blue Zone)
A run-down building near Trog's Tavern was bought by three goblin enterpreneurs with a large crew and now houses their mining and engineering company. Everyone who needs something dug, built, repaired or blown up is welcome.

Warwick Works (player: happyturtle, Grey Zone)
In the industrial area, a building is rented and has a new sign put out front.

W
Warwick Works

The building itself consists of a small office area in front and warehouses in back. There is no indication of what sort of business this is, but a certain cyborg with a satellite might recognize the logo and name.

Witch Which's Wish Shop (Grey, Player: Haruki-kun)

Welcome. If you have stepped into this store, it is because you have a wish.

The store is big, ancient and beautiful. It has a large garden with colorful flowers, a pond with fish and running water, and chirping birds. This is the outside of the store. The inside, however, is, to put it simply, gloomy. There’s burning candles and incense everywhere. From the hall where you enter you are led off into a side room with a low table and cushions around it. A tall, masked and unnamed stranger brings tea and snacks to the guests. The Witch sits opposite and rarely ever moves.

RULES (OOC):
This is a Wish shop. Your character will only enter this shop if he has a wish. Whether the wish is granted or not is a different issue.
Witch Which is in charge of the shop and will grant wishes to everyone who asks, regardless of intent or alignment, as long as the appropriate price is paid. Under certain conditions:

Condition one: Witch Which will not haggle. She couldn’t lower a price or overcharge even if she wanted to. A balance must be kept in order for the wish to be granted.

Condition two: When a Wish directly affects another player’s character in a way that would be considered godmodding, the other player must agree first.

Condition three: The Witch may not reject any wish unless the price is too high to be paid. Wishes to take a life or to destroy the world, for example, carry a price higher than anyone can pay. ANYONE.

Condition Four: The Witch will never engage in battle. Be glad. The Witch is the very definition of True Neutral.

Condition Five: The store is not hard to access; in fact, there’s a big sign outside and everything. However, the store’s grounds exist in a special separate dimension, protecting it from anything that could destroy it, up to and including plot.

Condition Six: Haruki-kun reserves the right to alter the conditions if he feels they’re causing problems such as godmodding or similar issues.

(Haruki-Kun wishes for a PM to be sent to him upon someone entering the shop so he knows about it.)

Inside's Defenses, Remnant, and The Council

Defenses

As stated above, the city of Inside is defended by the Walls, Moat and DOOM-Shield, but it is also defended by a more "mundane" force field that can be called upon in times of need, as well as a number of more conventional defensive capabilities, nearly all of which are manned and controlled by Remnant(Controlled for the most part by Wolfbane). These include things from Emergency Bunkers, Relief Stations, Anti-Aircraft Cannon, and the like.

Remnant

As stated before, Remnant is Inside's police force, army, and main defensive body. It is made up of the remains of what was once the Acronymian Empire, and consists of hundreds of men, women, and machines, both soldier and civilian, sacrificing their daily lives and time to make sure the city of Inside is relatively safe for it's citizens. There are Remnant Outposts all throughout the city, with the main HQ in Blue Zone, and less Outposts in Red Zone. These can be reached fairly easily, and allow people to report crimes, turn in criminals, collect bounties, and even ask to be recruited. Remnant controls most of Inside's defenses, but also controls Rapid Response Units capable of stopping fires, providing emergency medical aide, and even disaster relief to clean up debris and fix buildings and roads damaged by the day to day events of Inside.

Squads of Remnants patrol the streets "every so often" and should anyone need one, can interact with them(Please PM Wolfbane upon doing so, however).

As a note, Low-Level Remnants can be Godmodded! They can be assumed to fight the fires that pop up, but can also be asked to provide basic information. This also means that they can be bribed for less well-known information such as someone's name and rank, or to look the other way for a small crime, such as theft. Anything more, please PM Wolfbane to let him know, in case there is something that needs clarified. The Remnants can be godmodded to be killed on occasion, but if it happens too fast, too often, Wolfbane may step in and RP it out. Once again, please PM Wolfbane if you plan on killing a Remnant NPC.

What is NOT Godmoddable:

-Getting Security Codes
-Accessing Secure Areas
-Killing off more than one or two NPCs at a time, or killing a Named Remnant NPC/PC
-Stealing Identities
-Destroying Remnant facilities

It is not impossible for these to happen, but with proper warning provided to Wolfbane, it can be RP'd out and attempted. However, it should be noted that only Low-Ranking Remnants can be Godmodded in this way.

Council

The Council (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=195380) is the "ruling" body of Inside. A small group of individuals reside on it, and decide Inside Policy. People can go here for diplomatic relations, trials, or other activities that may concern dealing with an actual government instead of a police force or army.

"I'm not getting into a fight with a dog, Libby."

What could possibly be so undignified as to argue with a mutt, after all? That's not even taking into consideration Maggy's phobia of canines, which would definitely come into play here. The only thing scarier than a horrible devil-spawned hellhound is a talking horrible devil-spawned hellhound, after all.

"Framing could probably work, though. Hrm..."

Borrowing an idea or two from that cube buzzing about his MagCave, our cyborg aims for the darkest, most angsty-looking antihero in the immediate vicinity, trying to 'accidentally' trip into that individual from behind, his foot entangling itself on his robe in a manner you really would expect to happen more often than it does. On the way down, his palm slaps a very sticky, spikey explosive device into the poor bastard's back, which immediately starts blinking and beeping. Whoops, how clumsy of him!

"Ack! Oh, sorry, I tripped. Here, you dropped your-OH HOLY **** HE'S GOT A BOMB!"

Let's see security deal with that. Preferably from a safe distance away, as Magtok intends to make good on his frightful civilian act, and cowardly flee back towards wherever he last left Libby. He'll need to move fast, this distraction can only last so long.

"Did you see any stairs? Or elevators? Downstairs would be our best bet, if they have a basement. People just love burying their money for some reason."

Now is not the time for wry commentary on Nexus society, Magtok. Run! Find something other than bland, useless foyer to explore while the guards are still freaking out!

[EMBOH]

The cube inspired you to plant a bomb on someone?
That's an odd leap of logic, Maggy.

Libby doesn't comment past a slightly raised eyebrow, before he comes rushing towards her, as security descends upon the poor framee.

Literally descends.
Three of them have jetpacks and taser-guns.
That poor guy is going to be in for a rough few seconds, even as he flails about wondering who-the-heck-has-a-bomb-oh-gods-why-is-my-back-beeping.

"High Security, the jet-equipped individuals, have moved from their perch above the lower-access stairs.
This way."
Not batting an eye at the horrible pun she just committed, the reaper swiftly moves towards the far end of the bank, where lies a fairly standard electrical security lock door guarding the stairs.

Just because this is the Nexus and they know better than to not-lock their valuables, or even the pathways to their valuables.

Libby brushes her hand across the lock, the lights dim out and fade, and she opens the door before descending into the lower level.

Assuming Magtok doesn't do something silly, like suffer a sudden guilt complex and stop to help the poor guy that security is now throwing to the ground while they neutralize his bomb, he will be greeted by the sight of a sterile-white hall!

Complete with directions.

More precisely, the cube's latching onto the back of a giant robot inspired Magtok to do something vaguely similar. I imagine the consequences of those two actions are to be vastly different from one another, though.

"I could've gotten the lock myself, you kn-Oh wait, that's why you did it, isn't it?"

Rules rules rules rules. Libby and her restrictions on everything. He killed Zeus, took the Thunder God's head right off his shoulders, with instantaneous goat-telefragging! That should've been the end of it! Who's going to object or interfere, when one of them is a sexy, robed god of death and destruction, and the other is Libby?

"Man, if I'd known it was going to be this easy, I wouldn't have even bothered inventing that giant safe-hauling machine. Let's go smash security first; I didn't pack a rocket launcher or anything for the vault door."

How hard could the security systems be for our Magtok? I mean, he only dabbles in things like hacking and programming every rare once in while, not really devoting much time or resources to any specific field, but even so, half of Magtok's face is a computer. Shouldn't be that hard, right?

It's a beautiful day.

In fact, it's an utterly mindbogglingly beautiful day. It's an utterly perfect day. It's that perfect temperature, just enough wind, and a nice blue sky with a could parked just in front of the sun so that no one gets the sun in their eyes. The birds are chirping, the bugs are down, and the pollen and dust is caught up in the morning dew.

Its the kind of day that fake emo kids ignore with all their might and makes real emo kids doubt if life really is only suffering.

On this utterly perfect day, Kate is going for a walk through a park. She's well-rested, just recently caught up with a friend, earlier this morning she figured out a programming problem that had been bugging her, and today is pay day. It's like random chance tried to mess with her again and hit the other side of the bell curve.

Nothing out of the ordinary. Except that pumpkin's a bit out of season, isn't it? And I wasn't going to bring it up at first, but who leaves a perfectly good black suit folded up on the ground in the middle of a park? It looks expensive too, the sort of suit you'd guard with your life against stain, not the kind of thing you'd just callously abandon to the elements like this. The poor thing's probably got mud all over it and everything!

Here, moving from stall to stall and acquiring a variety of meats, fruits, and vegetables, all freshly picked that morning (or, some claimed, the next morning using timey-wimey Stuff) was Aeryn. The owner of Erin's Emporium hummed softly to herself, examining a shelfful of freshly butchered poultry at Chicken For The Chicken God, and found herself wondering whatever had happened to that nice turducken rancher girl...

The draconic cast of her face prevent her from being truly pretty, though her smile is quite pleasant. She's currently wearing a pair of jeans, her feet, uncovered, being digitigrade. on her upper body, she wears a tank top that, while showing off a little cleavage, is very far from being revealing. a long, muscular tail waves behind her legs, and she has a slight hunch; probably compensating for the feet and tail. a pair of horns are on her head, and she has hazel eyes.

Martyn strides into the tavern. Well, to anyone else it's a figure in a shabby brown cloak. To all that could sense magic though, this figure drops in potent magic. He's not even human anymore, more demon than man. (:smalltongue:) he radiates black and twisted magic, and an ancient and foul presence can be detected as he walks. He moves close to the bar before his shabby cloak drops off his shoulders, revealing the man. He's blonde, fairly handsome except for his left face... Which must be deformed or something seeing as he's wearing a metal mask with a red lense on it. His right eye is blue, but they radiate cold anger, and hatred... Martyn shares his body with the ancient demon of hate, Rage. And his constant scowl as his eyes hungrily gaze over the world betrays his nature, seeing as every good and pure thing in the world makes Martyn seem to wince and scowl a little more.

He wears shining white armor that seems to be part flesh, part metal. It clings tightly to his thin body, his armor covering dark red silk clothing. His left hand up to just below the elbow is encased in a pure white gauntlet, a power glove. His left hand clicks and whirs mechanically. For though underneath the gauntlet is a fleshy arm, the gauntlet is moving and controlling flesh there now. The glove also has five buttons. Each a different color. He wears a dark red cape that's ripped at the bottom from sheer flight speed ripping the cloth. His boots are a dark grey with crimson as well. His right hand is normal, and a gold wedding ring shines on it. Around his neck is a necklace with a silver chain, and a glass heart. The heart has a crack running through the front of it.

As Martyn steps slowly, the temperature around him distinctly drops, at least twenty degrees, and wherever he walks the wood freezes over. Marty finally speaks out. I had heard from the Wall, that you had plans for the destruction of GLoG? I am... Interested in what plans you have. My name is Martyn, and Rage. We are one. I want to pay society back. Will you help me? I am the strongest man alive, a mortal god.

C can put a paw on the gem and activate it as long as the chain is in some way circling his neck. Obviously there would be a lot of spare chain but that doesn't matter as long as the clasp is shut. Magtok produces a goose with an excessively long, tapered neck instead of a blowtorch. Given the flames that are soon bursting from its beak, I don't think anyone's going to mind the slight inaccuracy in his choice of words. He targets those pyramid-prism things, figuring those are probably hinges or tumblers or something else like that. He might just be damaging the locks beyond repair and sealing the vault closed for all he knows, but hell, it's not like this door came with an instruction manual or anything.

Besides, worse comes to pass, Libby can magic something up, right?

A bit of her hair is suddenly shortened, and Kate spins around to see the pumpkin with a suit.

What?
(No pun intended, that's pure surprise.)

Kate's initial reactions, either talk or switch to dragon form and run, are stalled long enough for the snazzily-dressed pumpkin to be able to do something.

What doesn't waste any time on introductions, insults, or apologies. He goes right for the kill, attempting to immediately atone for his failure to execute Kate with his first strike by swinging downward with a second, bringing a sharpened pair of scissors down towards the poor girl's forehead. Even with What's strength, that's not liable to kill her, but it should get him well on his way to doing so, if it penetrates deep enough.

After a moment, she decides that this is a homicidal pumpkin and that there is no point staying in her nice fleshy human form, so she sacrifices yet another outfit for a transformation into dragon mode. Wings, a robotic third arm, pixie antenna, scales, claws, jump boots... quite the sudden change.

It's a beautiful day. Butterfrees and beedrills float lazily between flowers, rattatas foraging through the tall grass, where they're hidden from the hunting eyes of the pidgeotto circling high above.

There's a scrabbling sound from the old burrows dug into the steep cliffs that divide the park. A second later a young man clambers his way out of the tunnels, his clothes and hair matted down with dirt. By the time he shakes the worst of it out and looks up the park has gone still, quiet. Not a living thing in sight.

The creatures watch him carefully from the edges of the wild grass, waiting to see what he'll do. Humans. Humans came and took their kind away, brought them back changed, servile. Maybe this one would pass them by-

Unaware of his watchers, the young man takes a step towards the thickets. A slight rustle reaches his ears as one of the creatures shrinks back from the edge. "Aha! I hear you there." Grinning confidently now, he walks straight for the brambles...

Martyn does not wave back, he's too busy thinking about the possibility of being attacked, and what to do if that happens. Which also means he's preparing spells in his mind silently, just in case. He would have no qualms about decimating a city block in order to escape. He recognizes Reinholdt from GLoG, and his eyebrow goes up in curiosity. ...You? Reinholdt? You're from GLoG. I met you. Don't you remember G-Good ol' M-Marty? His voice changes before returning to his icy cold and harsh tone. Help? Hardly. I just need allies. The more attackers there are, the less the chances are I will get injured. Think about it. So you've decided to betray GLoG? Just leave Vidalia and Butler to me... He then grins horribly, and it seems like things are moving in his throat... Then he closes his mouth. :smallconfused::smallyuk::smalleek:

He then turns to Reynard. ...I don't know you. Who are you? I heard of you from The Wall. You must be powerful, and wise to be publicly announcing your plans. Or an idiot. Either way, you'll be useful. And... Let's see, I know a little something I used to make from when I was a bartender. I want a normal Red Wine. Something doesn't want him to reach whatever it is that is rustling in the brambles, and that something is making its displeasure known by trying to Bite his rear as it hisses something deep and threatening. It has long fangs, and most threatening of all, a blade on the end of its tail.

The Seviper is not yet old enough to have developed a poisonous bite, but its long fangs promise intense pain should its blow land regardless.

He'll wave his hand and the drink will move to him, he also causes his red liquid to mix with the Red Wine, the liquid floating through the air and into the wine. Martyn will then raise an invisible kinetic shield around him in case Reinholdt cares to shoot him or something.

Less conveniently, the sound of sirens immediately blares from the Spire. Evidently they are well-aware that someone just tried to teleport into the area covered by their antiteleportation systems.

And so it begins.

A shimmering energy shield flares to life as the giant fireballs blast at the tower, finally justifying Vyrn's often-derided paranoia regarding security. The man was always prone to ever-increasing security measures, and it seems to have paid off...finally.

Shortly afterward, those compartments all along the Spire, mentioned in its location description? Those nearest the top (since that's where he'll be) open up.

They reveal an even greater extent of Vyrn's paranoia. The hatches open and out slide the concealed turrets. Concealed twin-linked anti-air laser turrets.

And thus did giant rapid-fire double-lasers begin blasting away in Martyn's direction. This can be limited by the tower's structure-they can't exactly shoot through the tower! But twin-linked rapid-fire laser turrets are nothing to laugh at, and will likely shred the boulders pretty easily. Boulders being boulders and not built to withstand bombardment like that.

As if giant rapid-fire anti-air lasers weren't enough, lower on the tower, there are missile turrets being revealed, all linked to the base's own advanced radar system. So there are also missiles being fired, which prove quite able to guide themselves around the building and other obstacles and fly towards Martyn. Missiles being missiles, these are also pretty likely to blast his little boulder shield to bits.

Should Marty fly above the tower and over the carrier itself, he will promptly find even more firepower flung his way, in the form of more of those laser turrets shooting at him from the carrier.

Finally, and perhaps most oddly, a single figure clad in sleek black power armor flies (yes, flies) up from the carrier, seeming to be carrying some sort of high-tech heavy rifle. That design, should anyone somehow know of such things, does not match anything known to exist in Remnant or the Irregulars' arsenal. Said figure will not be doing much...yet. Probably because he doesn't want to get caught up in that missile barrage flying Marty's way right about now!

Welp, time for Martyn to earn that A plus power rating. :smallamused:

He observes the massive amount of firepower flying his way, and all the thoughts of why humanity is so terrible rush through his head, slowly causing Marty's magic to get even stronger. A shield, hah! Marty simply waves his power glove, and the powerful magic of his Anti-Shield spell (Suitably strong, seeing as it was one of the three things Calublufiok gave him, so probably strong enough to take down most of the tower shield.) So, supposing that works, Martyn's own powerful Kinetic Shield activates. So, a glowing blue force field appears around him. (The Spell Kinetic Shield on his Character Sheet) At the same time his dark red cloaks magic and technology activates! (Dark Ree Cloak: A dark crimson cloak lined with red velvet that conceals metal wires and circuits. It can project a forcefield capable of blocking both physical and magical attacks, and can also teleport the wearer short distances. In addition, it has antigrav coils, allowing a fall from any distance at leisurely speed with no damage.)

So, his shields are up now, and he's probably taken down a section of the tower's shields now too!

Well, missiles and giant fricken lasers come flying Martyn's way. They first barrage of missiles and lasers completely obliterate the boulders (Which were very large, and meant to smash into the tower.) So, a cloud of dust appears around Marty, and bits of rock shrapnel fly down below him.

...
......
..........

Dust cloud whisks away and Martyn is still alive and uninjured, but of course his big powerful weapons are obliterated. Not too great. He's pissed now. If there are still missiles and lasers firing, his Kinetic Shield spell is now taking the full brunt of the barrage, and his spell will be broken next turn. For now, he decides to once more show off his A plus power rating.

He decides to make things cold. Really cold. He summons a numbfrost blizzard, the same kind of blizzard that froze The North Forest solid. So, a massive collection of snow clouds suddenly appear on top of the tower, covering the tower and about fifty feet around it. It begins to snow heavily, and hail stones about the size of basketballs. So that might deal a bunch of damage to the turrets and windows of the tower.

Okay, that was his spell... Now for his powerglove. He uses the Purple mode on the powerglove, which enables extremely powerful telekenesis, which is what the glove is famous for. He'll raise the hand, and attempt to cause the barrage of missiles and lasers to go straight back to where they came from.

(All attacks on the tower are attempted, of course.)

Darkcomet

First off, the shield bit.

It does indeed appear to cause a huge shield disruption, visually spotted as this big bright blue flare, though it doesn't seem to drop it. Probably needs a bit more!

Giant icy basketballs, as it turns out, seem to be no match for shields and heavy armor.

The missiles are stopped by the telekinesis, but don't seem quite able to fly back at their launch sites, seeing as they explode the moment they're stopped. The lasers...being lasers, I'm more or less certain it would be exceedingly difficult to apply telekinesis to them, unless one can use TK on light now. So those are probably still coming.

What of that guy that flew out, though? He quickly proves he's not Drelin when he turns intangible and fittingly translucent, an ability normally attributed only to Vyrn himself with regards to the Empire and its successors. He flies at oddly high speed out of the worst of the hailing (closer to Martyn, in fact) and resumes being solid.

Up closer, the armor in question is oddly ornate-the helmet seems stylized to look like a crown, of all things, and the chest is marked with an old Imperial emblem in navy.

Vyrn, for that is who this guy is, unceremoniously levels the oversized rifle at Martyn. Said rifle's barrel swirls with a bizarre black aura briefly before it fires, spewing tiny slivers of metal towards Martyn at ludicrously high speeds, with a high rate of fire.

It seems he has revisited his old automatic gauss rifle. Yes, he had one of those once.

The thing is, this weapon is significantly different. The testbed for its technology was the missile strike on the MagCave, you see, and so this is much more painful than a regular old auto gauss rifle. The rounds it fires are imbued with magic thanks to a powerful artifact, granting it greater ability to punch through magical defenses for one thing, and causing the rounds to explode upon impact with anything. Said explosions are tiny, not even the size of a grenade's, but are explosions nonetheless, with enough force to blast bone and most armor apart.

Fortunately the tiny slivers are too small to leave large amounts of psycho magic radiation like the missile did.

All in all, Martyn is now being targeted by Vyrn's Supergun and the lasers now. No more missiles. Also there is snow and hail.

Meanwhile, the Sanctuary is lowered from its safe spot at the top of the tower, being retracted further into it. A hatch quickly seals over the carrier, shielding it from further attacks. Whoops.

Hattish Thing

Okey-Dokey.

Martyn swears loudly as the first spell didn't work. Okay. No damage to the Tower yet.

The missiles are stopped, yay! However lasers are still coming and are being absorbed by the magical shield. Okay, magic shield is holding..... aaaaand, gone. The lasers broke the first Kinetic Shield (The Spell). Now lasers are still firing at Martyn, but are blocked by his second layer of shielding. (The Cloak which protects from both physical and magical.) It's absorbing lasers now.

Then, Emperor Vyrn fires a gun that quite frankly, is really fricken awesome. (Got to hand it to you Vyrn, you know how to make badass weapons.)

The shrapnel bits fly at Martyn, who just smirks. He should have not underestimated the weapon. The shrapnel smashes right through the magical part of the Red Cloak's protection, and the explosions cause the physical part to fade away too, causing Marty to fly backwards flipping over. The white armor appears to be a little burnt, and Marty's even more pissed off.

Now he's only protected by the Mark Two Power Armor, which still can absorb a ton of damage. So, it will now begin to absorb the lasers into the armor, so lasers aren't doing much damage, though the armor power levels are slowly fading. Once it's out of power, it becomes normal plate armor. Martyn looks down and notices that the tower is not connected to the ground! So he casts Elemental Shield now, which would protect him from elements.

There's his spell, now for his Powerglove. Marty will attempt to zap Vyrn into retreating with the Blue Mode of the Powerglove. (Blue button: Shoots electricity much like Emperor Palpatine's force abilities. Each finger shoots a burst of electricity, and can target (Obviously) five people at once.) So now, Vyrn might suddenly feel electricity course through his body as all five bolts of lightning from all five fingers target him. I hate you all...

Electricity was always a favorite of the Empire under Vyrn, you know.

They had multiple electricity-based weapons, including grenades and, more relevantly, Vyrn's own personal lightning cannon. Martyn probably isn't aware of this fact, but it turns out badly for him.

The electricity is drawn to one of Vyrn's gauntlets, which causes him to lower the gun and hold it in the non-electric'd hand. The electricity visibly sparks as it courses through the gauntlet, strangely localized to it instead of running through the bastard like it's supposed to.

For his part, Vyrn, were he not covered in power armor, would look almost amused.

"Oh, you poor, ignorant fool." He raises his hand towards Martyn, and he quickly demonstrates why that was a bad plan. Namely, that gauntlet of his is a lightning gauntlet itself, and launches an overcharged lightning blast at the guy who mistakenly overcharged it. Bad blunder, that.

Oh, and the lasers are still firing.

Well, Martyn looks up at Vyrn to get a face full of lightning! Marty begins to plummet down to the ground, shaking a bit from electrical overload. The elemental shield blocked a little bit of the lightning, but it still hurts Martyn a lot. The shield is also blocking the lasers a little... But he's still being hurt by laser blast after laser blast.

After three seconds of flying and getting shot however, he teleports, and will attempt to teleport right behind Vyrn, and attempts to grab him, and then fly full speed at the tower, attempting to see if he can rocket through the tower or just smash Vyrn to paste using The Tower's shield. Martyn this time dodges the brunt of the shot, except for a piece which blows a part of his armor, and with the laser shots blasting him, Martyn's armor is at forty percent and decreasing. This is going very badly for Martyn. So, for his spell he attempts to implode that gun. He points his normal hand at that gun, and it might suddenly cave in on himself, while he then tries to fly at a very high speed at Vyrn, and attempts to grab onto him, and head straight for the ground, thinking he can smash Vyrn into the ground. No.

The gun is a magitech weapon fueled by a powerful artifact. Powerful artifacts, such as they are, tend to be resistant to wanton attempts at destruction.

Said artifact, thus, prevents the gun from being imploded like that. Ouch.

The next attack goes much better, with Vyrn getting grabbed and slammed to the ground. Except...he doesn't hit the ground, using his intangibility power to fall straight through when he would've impacted, armor and weapons and all.

After which he will float back up behind Martyn, solidify, and start unloading the magitech gauss rifle at him at point blank range.

Okay, ow. Martyn's taking a lot of damage. None of his spells seem to be working. Well, Martyn's now on the ground, and then is shot at point blank range. OW! **** you! His armor is now at 20% and decreasing... Marty will then turn around and cast fire storm on Vyrn, attempting to create about a twenty foot storm of fire right onto Vyrn, to distract him a bit. Next, he uses the White Setting on his Powerglove and his armor automatically recharges ten percent, and is gaining power, but Martyn can't use the Powerglove for anything else right now. He flies back about ten feet, to evade the storm he just summoned, and then uses his Roar. (loud enough and strong enough to shatter eardrums, fracture bones, damage the ground and send people flying) JUST DIE!

Darkcomet

Vyrn first flies upward out of the fire, his own flight capabilities combined with the tech in the armor making it quite quick.

The 'Roar', though, sends him flipping through the air a bit, the worst of it stopped by his armor. Afterward, he flies towards Martyn, still shooting.

In addition, it turns out attacking a faction headquarters is rather likely to get you swarmed! Four other Irregular troopers move in around now since they're closer to the ground, and begin firing on Martyn with their up-powered blaster rifles. Those are fairly good, but not ridiculous like Vyrn's gun. The four are arranged so they're not all clustered together, spread out around this area.

There's probably more where they came from, too.

Martyn is frowning and very much upset. Nothing was working for some reason. Okay, the gunshots from the Regulars do nothing. Doctor Harald's armor was top class.

Vyrn's gun still hurts him pretty bad. Five percent fades away now. Okay, goons to kill. His Power Glove switches to Black Setting and stops healing the armor, and now he waves his hand, and the Regular's might find their life force sucked out completely, all their life force absorbed into Martyn's.

He also causes a massive magical fist to appear in the air, and it attempts to punch Vyrn away, and upon successful contact, will probably send him flying a fair distance.

Darkcomet

The Irregular troopers aren't killed outright, it seems but they're in no good shape now, two collapsing outright. The remainder don't seem inclined to do much either, instead retrieving their comrades and moving away from the fight.

Vyrn, however, dives under the giant fist. That leaves him unable to aim the gun easily, but he does instead launch another blast of lightning Martyn's way. It's not overcharged like last time, but lightning is lightning.

A sound can be heard from above as the Spire opens again. Sanctuary can't launch fighters from its current position since it's still not elevated. They might be pulling something up there, though.

Okay! Martyn's in pretty good shape now, having drained collectively enough life force to heal his armor back to full power! Martyn's feeling good now, and looks up to see something big is going on. Bad. That's bad.

He then sees electricity zap towards him. Okay... Ow. The electricity also absorbs into Martyn's Powerglove! Seems we both suck at that... He doesn't fire the electricity, but has it be absorbed by his armor system.

Next, that big fist will attempt to grab Vyrn! Or at the very least get that gun from him. Next, Marty casts Summon Monster. He can only summon Ice Elements, but five of the things appear, and begin to circle around Marty. The numbfrost elementals begin freezing anything nearby, blasting balls of numbfrost in all areas. Upon contact, a numbfrost bolt freezes anything solid.

For his part, Vyrn dives into the ground again to avoid getting grabbed. How irritating. He doesn't come back up quickly this time for some reason, which is...odd.

The Irregular troopers have already retreated.

Martyn won't have much time to ponder that, though, as what happens is, an Irregular gunship launches (it's a VTOL, so it can do that) and starts raining heavy laser cannon blasts on the area, mostly trying to eliminate the summoned help.

If he's looking, Martyn might spot another VTOL aircraft going off in the opposite direction for some reason. Odd.

Vyrn does not reappear this round.

Well, laser cannons blow apart Martyn's ice elementals. The elementals move and take the place of their creator, giving their lives to keep Martyn from harm. So, Martyn takes no damage, but his elementals are destroyed.

Martyn is angry and raging, and his powers are strongest in this state. He will use the hand and his powerful telekinesis to try and grab the first VTOL and have it fly through the sky and smash into the Spire. At the same time, he casts Kinetic Shield again.

The gunship is rather far away, and has some warding-it'd be stupid not to have any defense. It does get knocked around in the air, though, rendering it unable to do anything aside from have its pilot try to maintain control of it.

Other than that, another missile gets shot at Martyn from the Spire. Presumably not the swarms it could be because they're concerned about collateral when he's closer to the ground.

Or it might be a diversionary tactic or something. It's difficult to tell.

Okay... Missile. Marty will hover in the air and simply causes the bits of jaggedly sharp ice to float off the ground and fly to the missile to blow it up before it reaches Martyn.

Next, Martyn looks around. (Could you identify any of the surroundings? Houses and such?)

Martyn will then cast his shields all over himself again, and that's his turn.

(I'm not really sure there. Though I don't think anyone would want to live right next to the Irregular main base, I'll note.)

Martyn's looking around is likely interrupted. First, the gunship regains its bearings and fires a pair of laser cannon blasts down at him.

Next, immediately afterward, Vyrn will pop up out of the ground and fly up directly behind him, this time wielding a much heavier looking gun. Think 'big rocket launcher'-size, only...well. It is an anti-tank beam cannon. Which he is firing at the back of Martyn's head at point-blank range immediately following the laser cannon blasts.

He still has the heavy rifle, though-attached to the back of his armor, currently.

.....Okay, ouch.

Well, Martyn's at max shields and max health with his armor. The cannon blasts and Vyrn's blast decimate all of Martyn's shields, and Martyn can't cast anymore shield spells now. Martyn's eyes go wide as he realizes what just happened. He turns straight around and will try to grab Vyrn by the neck, and whether he succeeds or not sends a bolt of Fearblaze at Vyrn, most likely freezing him.

He now has no shields. Meaning next time those cannons from the VTOL hit him? It's going to hurt badly. Marty also attempts to teleport, hopefully with Vyrn.

Darkcomet

Gravity is a wonderful thing sometimes, as Vyrn here proves by simply falling away from the grabbing attack. The Fearblaze bolt strikes the beam cannon he's carrying (it's pretty big), forcing him to toss it aside.

He then turns transparent, intangible, and there's a bizarre sense of smugness radiating from him.

There's also another comical fizzling noise, presumably, because Martyn has continued to forget there is an antiteleportation system in place around this area.

Which...leaves him wide-open as...

The gunship fires its laser cannons again.

Uh-oh.

Meant numbfrost there, derp. Martyn can't use Fearblaze.

Okay, laser cannons hit Marty's back, and do a nasty 60% Armor loss damage. Alright, Martyn is at forty percent with no shields. He'll attempt to fly away. Vyrn just keeps dodging him and flitting away, and Martyn couldn't use his most devastating attacks here. He'll fly at high speeds away, but as he flies he'll try one more time for that telekenesis to grab Vyrn and take him with Martyn.

Darkcomet

The gunship just keeps blasting away, further supplanted by another missile barrage as Martyn tries to fly off. That'll probably interrupt any TK attempts against Vyrn, who is likely difficult to grab anyway. What with the ghosting thing. He's still doing that. He can try anyway if he doesn't feel like shifting his focus to avoid getting blasted by missiles.

If Martyn gets in the right angle again, the Spire's laser turrets will also open up on him again.

And at the same time, the VTOL from the other direction? Yeah, it rounds around the tower (it probably dropped the cannon for Vyrn or something) and starts shooting at Martyn too. Whee, even more lasers.

Attacking militaristic faction bases alone really isn't a good idea! Let this lesson be learned well.

Hattish Thing

Martyn had underestimated the base. He certainly won't be making that mistake again.

Okay, Marty's flying... and then more lasers and missiles and nasty things. Lasers burn and hurt him, and the missiles and all that cause the power armor to shut off, so now Martyn's going to be actually taking physical damage from shots. Hopefully now he's out of range to the point where he can teleport? If not he keeps flying fast, and sends a spell of Mass Freeze backwards.

What that is, is a massive cone of fearblaze which probably freezes missiles and things coming his way.

Not quite yet, no. Vyrn's paranoia means the area around the base is teleblocked for a good ways around. Later on he'll probably say something like 'and you called me paranoid'.

The next missile barrage gets blocked by ice! However, that's not what Martyn should be worrying about this time, oh, no.

Instead, it's Vyrn, who solidifies back where he is, and takes aim with that gauss gun of his again. That black aura that was seen earlier swirls around the barrel much more swiftly and visibly, thicker and ever more ominous-looking.

Then he fires a single shot after Martyn. A single shot, overcharged with the artifact's magic to create a projectile with power even beyond those laser cannons. Said magic also makes it capable of much longer-range attacks, and as for the weapon's explosive properties...well.

Let's just say the explosion's not so tiny this time. The size of a grenade blast minimum, only much more powerful than one. Just, you know, more localized.

Ooookay, this blast from the gauge almost kills Martyn. Needless to say, he's bleeding out quite a bit, and panicking. He activates the White Setting, and his body starts healing slowly. The extra boost from the gun must have gotten Martyn a little closer to leaving? Because Martyn's going extremely fast in the air, and attempting to teleport second after second.

That would do it, yes. However...that explosion? Was significant enough to have the irradiative effect I mentioned before.

Meaning, Martyn has likely been blasted with a sort of deadly magic radiation that will be very bad for him, mostly in the form of being generally disruptive to his casting (magic radiation scrambling) and generally being likely to slowly melt his flesh the longer he doesn't get the radiation purged somehow.

It'll likely cancel out with the regenerative ability, but at the same time, that still leaves him bleeding out.

Other than that, he's free to teleport away in terror now.

Martyn teleports straight here, seeing as it was the easiest place to hide out. The first thing he does is take out a cable from a pocket, and jam it into a socket in the wall, and sit down and wait for his suit to power back up, second he casts a spell that will assure his teleportation cannot be detected.

That radiation? That... Doesn't really work. Martyn is not effected by radiation, or things like that. He's a demon, not really a man anymore... and practically made from magic. The magic that pretty much makes him up can't be scrambled or blocked, so no radiation happens. But Martyn is still bleeding out everywhere.

He also takes out two white cartridges filled with power packs, which he jams into the back of the Powerglove like batteries. This allows the White Setting to activate and run, healing Martyn. ****. There... That's pretty impressive for one man.

As he watches the fight Reynard falls silent, all of his jocularity fading away. True, Martyn had very poor tactics, but the Irregulars' base was even more powerful than anticipated. Still, thanks to the scrying pool, they now had a very good idea of Vyrn's capabilities.

As Martyn shows up, Reynard turns away from the scrying pool and walks towards him, frowning in concern. I am truly sorry; I had gravely underestimated those bastards. Next time you will have plenty of back up. I think we need to get some powerful long range missiles, don't you agree?

Then the Trickster does three subtle things. First, he makes it so that the outlet Martyn is plugged in to drains him even further, not recharges. Second, he scoops up some of the radiation clinging to him and seals it off for later analysis. Third, he covers every surface of the room, including what Martyn is sitting and leaning on, with holy symbols. The entire building is now sanctified holy ground blessed by the Goddess Laverna. That should weaken the demon, hopefully.

Yeah... sorry, but Rage has other ideas. The radiation is expelled from Martyn and will irradiate the area around him, killing anyone close. The spirit's essence wells up in Martyn's wounds, further accelerating the healing process. He'll be fully healed in about thirty seconds.

*EDIT*

Just saw Hatter's post:

1) The batteries in Harald's armour are good for about a decade, so no need to recharge, and

2) The Power Glove's healing is rendered fairly unnecessary by the healing factor from Rage - as above, Martyn will be completely healed in about half a minute, even without Harald's biotech and mechanical enhancements and the Power Glove.

Hattish Thing

Ahah, didn't know that about the armor! Nice to know.

So, The Powerglove is recharging, and Martyn's now at full health. His armor is not. His armor is attempting to recharge, but at zero power, it's not getting any larger, which Martyn can clearly sense seeing as the armor is bonded with him.

So, Martyn is at full health, just without the armor's special abilities. He's not charging, and after a minute of Reynard talking, he stands up, and moves to the outlet, taking the plug out and putting it back in... It's not working. So, Martyn turns around, the holy symbols not doing too much to an elder demon of Rage. As in, no damage and such, but Martyn is feeling a bit ill.

He'll attempt to grab a chair and throw it as haqrd as he can out the window of the tavern. I'm back at full strength and such, but my armor won't recharge. Where's an outlet? I can just go elsewhere and be back. Yes, you gravely underestimated everything. So... Well, so did I. I went in without a plan of action, just blowing things up. Next time, I'll have a decisive plan.... So, get me an outlet. Or.... You know what, nevermind. Harald packed more batteries Rage just told me. I'll just change batteries... He wills it and his armor switches batteries.

The choir is certainly annoying Martyn, and now he's just spooked by Reynard and Reinholdt. He'll attempt to fly right through the roof, attempting to smsh through the wood and such. I don't trust you.

Reynard goes to the bar and grabs the bottle of wine, then hands it to Reynard, who pours a glass full and gives it to Reynard, who offers it to Martyn.

Martyn frowns, not knowing what to think. He'll softly float back down to the ground, but at this unsheathes a black sword from thin air. He points it at Reynard but doesn't move it. The blade is an anti-spellcaster weapon. Meaning anything it strikes is drained of magic. He'll wave it through the air. Stop that music, NOW! And I'm leaving, you guys can fight your own wars. I am fine on my own. You go fight by yourself. He'll attempt to walk backwards, leaving with his blade pointed at Reynard. He'll use his telekinesis to attempt to find that weapon Reinholdt was using, and cause it to fly towards Martyn's hand.

Kate sees the scissors coming, and dodges back several steps into a loose combat stance. There was a pumpkin and a suit trying to kill her! What?

Yes, him. So you've heard of our murder golem, then? :smalltongue:

After a moment, she decides that this is a homicidal pumpkin and that there is no point staying in her nice fleshy human form, so she sacrifices yet another outfit for a transformation into dragon mode. Wings, a robotic third arm, pixie antenna, scales, claws, jump boots... quite the sudden change.

Not expected. Not altogether surprising, but not expected, either. At least things will be moderately more interesting this way, though. The scissors are dropped, and a one-handed, knife-size macuahuitl comes out instead. Damn, a knife-macuahuitl?! Where did What get a classy number like that?

A Rubbish Bin

Not just any rubbish bin mind you, this is one of the higher traffic rubbish bins in the city of Inside. If it's not changed out twice a day by city workers offscreen, it'd be overflowing with trash and unwanted objects in no time.

A fact that our malleus magnificentum is counting on. Eris fades into view across the street from the trash can, where she'd been casing it all day. Just one of many that she'd taken the time to personally inspect for suitability. This had to be one of the best. Not too upscale a neighborhood, mostly college kids looking to cut corners and live lean. The kind of people who might notice something peeking out of a garbage can and investigate if it were shiny enough.

Under her arm is one such shiny object. Well, not shiny yet, but that's part of the plan. Stolen from under an author's nose by reaching through the fourth wall, this black, bog-standard looking typewriter was oodles of fun when she first used it, but it seems to have run out of juice to make the kind of broad, sweeping changes that she most enjoys. Time to get rid of the old thing and move on to greater glories.

Pulling an apple out of thin air, she quickly mashes it into the keys of the typewriter with a wet squelch, engulfing the whole thing in light and coming out the other side of the flash with a shiny new Chrometop miBook. It's last year's model, but that will likely throw off suspicion as to why it's in the trash. People who go for these gadgets rarely keep them after the new one comes out.

That done, she tucks it under her arm and innocently waltzes up to the trash can, drops the laptop into its slot so that one edge of it sticks out temptingly, and walks off without a care in the world. Whoever finds it, it's bound to cause some mischief without any more effort on her part. Who knows, maybe it'll even be wild enough to catch her attention in a few weeks and remind her that she'd done something with it!

Probably not though. All that remains is the satisfaction of a mischief well managed.

The not-really-a-man in a suit doesn't need to follow Kate. He's got his ranged weapon right here, and she's about to find out that getting away from our beloved murdergourd isn't quite as easy as it looks.

A hammer is hefted up and out of his suit. A very special hammer, that belonged to a very special god. A weapon so blessed, only the worthy can lift it off the ground, much less wield it adequately in a fight. What lifts up his arm so that the legendary Mjolnir might kiss the heavens. There is a great crackling, crashing, hideous bolt of lightning that stabs its way down from up above, which might very well pierce Kate's wings on its way down to the sacred weapon our What Pumpkin has switched to. She better get down her and face him, or he might just do that again.

Not that that means a whole lot, given she just writes odd little stories about the people she meets and the famous individuals in the Nexus. That said, she's broke, and has an older computer that's dying.

Which is what makes the sight of a working computer in the trash very tempting. She'll look around first, wondering if anybody is paying attention, before picking it up out of the garbage. After a moment to check all the outer components to make sure there's no damage, and being satisfied that it's in good repair, she'll hold it to the front of her denim jacket with a grin. A new computer! Must be fate, right? Fate works like that. Or karma. Karma works too.

The human might find himself waylaid. Something doesn't want him to reach whatever it is that is rustling in the brambles, and that something is making its displeasure known by trying to Bite his rear as it hisses something deep and threatening. "Ssseviper..." Should he turn, he will see an eight-foot-long black snake behind him with yellow hexagons decorating parts of its hide. It has long fangs, and most threatening of all, a blade on the end of its tail.

The Seviper is not yet old enough to have developed a poisonous bite, but its long fangs promise intense pain should its blow land regardless.

As amusing as a snakebite to the rear would be to everyone except the poor sap getting bitten, the human has the sense to turn when he hears a snake, just in time for the seviper to pounce, sinking it's fangs into his upper leg.

And a snakebite to the leg isn't very amusing at all. Except maybe to the snake.

The young man falls backwards into the dirt with a yell of pain, kicking his leg frantically and batting at the snake in an attempt to dislodge it. Poison hasn't occured yet as a possibility- The pain of those two little teeth cutting through his flesh and muscle is enough to occupy all parts of his mind not shut down in panic.

Reynard waves from the couch to Reynard behind the bar. Reynard passes along a mug of boiling hot Turkish coffee (with a healthy pour of Soma into it for extra strength) from hand to hand to hand until it reaches Rein.
"They eat, they drink, and in communion sweet
Quaff immortality and joy."

Reynard chuckles in amusement and tries to run his fingers through Reinholdt's hair. Come, let us be "Imparadis'd in one another's arms."

"Dark with excessive bright". Reynard mutters as he winces against the light.

Reynard tells Reynard what he saw through one of the windows.
"The other shape,
If shape it might be call'd that shape had none
Distinguishable in member, joint, or limb;
Or substance might be call'd that shadow seem'd,
For each seem'd either,—black it stood as night,
Fierce as ten furies, terrible as hell,
And shook a dreadful dart; what seem'd his head
The likeness of a kingly crown had on."

Perhaps you'd like to leave through the basement, Reynard asks,
"Where eldest Night
And Chaos, ancestors of Nature, hold
Eternal anarchy amidst the noise
Of endless wars, and by confusion stand;
For hot, cold, moist, and dry, four champions fierce,
Strive here for mast'ry."

The thing with too many wings is long gone by the time Martyn turns around, but as he looks out the window he can see another being, floating in a bright, empty void that definitely does not resemble Inside. It is four wheels, two nestled inside the other two, all covered in eyes and on fire. Martyn would have to leave the building in order to attack that one, but something about that bright light outside should be screaming to his self-preservation instincts. If he has any. So the question is: Does Martyn stay in the building or does he step out of it?

"Who overcomes
By force, hath overcome but half his foe."
Reynard pedagogically lectures to Reynard, Reynard, and Reynard.
"Long is the way
And hard, that out of Hell leads up to Light."

"Such joy ambition finds." "The hell within him." and "A heaven on earth." You must "Awake, arise, or be for ever fall'n."

I AM DEATH!

At Martyn's last shout, waves of powerful Hellfire will begin to burst fout from him in a twenty degree wave. That might damage Reynard, Reynard, Reynard, Reynard, and Reinholdt. (However man Reynard's there are.) Next, in a forty foot wave, Black Magic summoned from the darkest pit of Rage's domain bursts out, the pure demonic magic will attempt to cause the ground to dry out, the wood to fall apart, and any living matter to shrivel up. It also will envelope everywhere around Martyn in that forty foot wave in an inky black and poisonous cloud. The final effect is that Martyn places his two hands together, and a beam of what can only be described as pure evil will launch at the white thing, attempting to corrupt and destroy it.

He picks up the hammer, now wielding the primitive blade and divine bludgeon simultaneously, the smell of burnt leather still clinging to the hammer-hand Kate had electrocuted. Any further action was simply a bonus, really, as helping expose minds to interesting events was generally a reward enough on it's own. It was somewhat like poking a black box with various stimuli and finding out what it creates and produces. Or, well, there was more to it but that was certainly one of the reasons that might be applicable.

Matryn's chanting. That's never a good thing. Reinholdt opens his mouth to explain to him he needs to calm down. That acting rashly when it comes being dimension hopped is a bad thing and sometimes fighting isn't the answer. Trust him, he's been through situations similar to this before.

Such things are interrupted by Reynard kissing him though.
Rein's pretty dumbfounded at first. Then he feels the heat of lust overwhelm him. The spark between two people that only purely erotic couplings can create. The fire of...
Oh.
No wait, all that's just real flesh and bone consuming fire.
Nevermind.
Hellfire even, followed by Heaven's Light. Normally it's the other way around. Can't trust Disney at all!

On the upside, Reinholdt never would have imagined dying, then going to Heaven.
Or vice versa as the case may be.

((Yes, I was invited to this scene))

Overhead, there is an odd buzzing noise. A moment later, four long, segmented, translucent green legs touch the ground and decelerate a woman in Green. With forest green hair and a light green lab coat, her bright blue eyes still stand out somehow. She seems pleased with her landing, and the extra limbs simply disappear. She turns to look at Elise with a smile... it's not clear whether she only just now noticed her or whether she knew she was there the whole time.

"Hello."[A rubbish Bin]

Ellise is surpised when Copi appears, holding her laptop out in front of her almost as if it were a shield. Oh geeze, what's going on? There's this girl with crazy powers here. Wait, she said a greeting. Response? Yes respond!

She opens her mouth to say something and ends up saying "Green."

No. No, they are not. Especially when they've been clamped down into your thigh.

The human makes more funny noises, a strangled whimper escaping as he fights to hold back the building scream of pain and terror. Suddenly this hallucination isn't so fun- If it even is a hallucination. The pain burning, pulsing, writhing, searing through his leg feels real. Very real. All too real.

Pushing himself back along the dirt with his good leg the man tries to distance himself from the coiled serpent, digging one hand in to the inner pockets of his coat. There's a knife in there somewhere. Not a very good one, more for show than fighting, but a blade is a blade.

Martyn will be able to teleport away. But why would he want to? I mean, apart from the legion of eldritch angels attempting to devour him and the entire plane violently rejecting his corrupted existence. Who would willingly flee Heaven? Stay, Martyn, and embrace redemption. Give up your Rage and become whole once again.

Reynard wasn't permanently killed, but a large part of him was ruined by this little dimension hopping trick. Not even someone as powerful as The Trickster could get away unscathed.
