Buried alive?

I should assume being buried alive is like drowning correct?

what happens if you bury a capped Sandshaper alive? does he die from being buried and then come back to life 10 minutes later, then die again?

The way I see it, he dies, is resurrected, loses a level to resurrection, is no longer a 10th level Sandshaper, and if no one bothers to dig him out, he then dies for real.

I think you are thinking of walker in the waste, who is undead by that point and does not need to breathe.

Otherwise, it would be treated ETHER as drowning for very tight spaces that hold no air, or slow suffocation (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/environment.htm#suffocation) if the space holds some air
