Hey All:

I'm brewing something up, and I want to include a feat from Pathfinder that allows you to trade iterative attacks for extra damage dice. Anybody who can remind me what that feat is called gets +100 awesome!

Thanks!

Do you mean the generally-maligned Vital Strike (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/vital-strike-combat---final) tree?

Hmm, I thought it was just one feat? Any reasons why it is maligned?

Because a major component of your damage is all the bonuses you add, and those are not increased. It steps up your damage if you are restricted to standard actions, but that usually isn't the case.

When you grab iteratives, that's a much bigger damage boost than Vital Strike. Also, you're expecting big damage bonuses (from Strength, Power Attack, Sneak Attack, and so on) which multiply with the extra attacks.
