I'm collecting class names. I'll hit you with what I've got, and you'll see if you can add to it.

Here are the rules. Fantasy / fantasy-steampunk genres only. Adventuring classes only (Necromancer yes, Blacksmith maybe, Commoner no). One-word class names only (hypenated names like Ur-Priest and compound names like Spellbinder are allowed). Cowan? I'm not familiar with that one, and Google isn't very revealing.

What's a cowan?

I'm not entirely sure, actually. Every time I've seen it used in an RPG, it was a witch's guardian. I suppose you could also use the term witchknight.

Cultist
God
Judge
<weapon>-<title>(There are a lot under this framework. A kama-man is different from a swordmaster is different from Váfuðr Gungnis)
<element name in greek>mancer

erm... is "lich" a class? same with "cestus" (that's just an item), medium (you mean the size or an art medium?)

and here are a few:
Arachnomancer(actually, any -mancer. see below)
Centurion
Murder-Hobo
Siren(arguable)
Bodyguard (military OR personal variety)
commando
Gendarme
Hurler
Hulk
Juggernaut
Destroyer
Witcher
Doctor
Plumber (definitely a hero class)

and a bunch of variations of things you have (for instance: you have Wyrmcaller and Dragonrider but not Wyrmrider or Dragoncaller)

i suggest you break things down to remove all nouns. for instance, you have "rider" and "caller" but not all 4 variations of wyrm/dragon/rider/caller because wyrm and dragon have less to do with the class and are pretty much just nouns. i'm not saying that dragonriders are not awesome, i'm saying that if you do this the list will grow to an unmanageable size, because of all the possible variations.

edit: do you want me to edit this post or make new ones if i think of more?

edit: also, there's this (http://www.roman-empire.net/republic/rep-offices.html). and that's just civilian offices of government, it says nothing of the religious or military officials.

A medium can also be a type of mystic.

I forget what edition, but it's either called a bug riding beattle bandit or a beattle riding bug bandit

Dwarf (The Dragon #3)
Idiot (The Dragon #3)
Scribe (The Dragon #3)
Friar (Chivalry & Sorcery)
Cabbalist (Chivalry & Sorcery)
Slaver (Arduin Grimoire)
Techno (Arduin Grimoire)
Trader (Arduin Grimoire)

(Also I question the restriction of on e-word classes only. You're leaving out a lot of real classes with an arbitrary restriction.)

Wait so we can add from third party sources? Also can we include descriptions of the classes?

Pretty sure the idea isn't sources, but just to think up all the possibilities.

It would be nice if the list was grouped and sorted into broad categories.

I can't accept your rules.

When there were only three character classes, one of them was a two word phrase. As long as your rules disallow "Magic User", the list is in no way a complete list.

That's a rank he was eventually given. His class is Smuggler.

Well, there's

Thief
Magic-User (I guess we could put it that way)

If we're counting LARPs.

@^: Pyro, Heavy, Medic, Demoman, etc. don't count in this list unless you can cite them in some non TF2 related source. This is a fantasy list.

Scout, Soldier and Spy on the other hand totally do.

I'm pretty sure there are medics on the fantasy battlefields.

Technically, Magic-User (hyphenated, as it originally was) is legal according to my rules, but Fighting Man isn't. : P

In any case, this list is in no way meant to be system-specific.

In any case, this list is in no way meant to be system-specific.

But if it can't reasonably represent some of the most obvious actual class names from actual systems, how can it lay claim to "EVERY CLASS EVER"?
