View Full Version : Spells for a Cleric? (Carrot and company stay out)

hey guys,

I have read this (http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?topic=420.msg8434#msg8434) and am making an NPC cleric. Should be a rather tough fella oriented on casting. Will be accompanied by brute mooks and will, at this level, have an ability to cast three quickened spells per day. So first three turns two spells each time.

What spells should I pick for his spell list, guys?

lizardfolk Clr4; ; HD 6d8+12; hp 40; Init +0; Spd 20 ft; Swim spd 10, AC 20, touch 10, flat-footed 20 (+5 nat,+3 armor,+2 shield); BAB +4; Melee trident +6 (1d8+2), or light mace +6 light (1d6+2); Ranged javelin +4 (1d6+2/19-20); SA Free quickened spell 1/day, turn undead 10/day; SQ martial weapon proficiency (greatclub), use magic as wizard; AL NE; SV Fort +6, Ref +4, Will +8; Str 12(+1), Dex 10(+0), Con 15(+2), Int 9(-1), Wis 18(+4), Cha 18(+3).

Skills and Feats: HIDE-6, SPOT+4, LISTEN+4, MOVE SILENTLY-6, balance-2, climb-4, concentration+4, jump+2, spellcraft+1, swim+10; extra turning, divine metamagic(quicken spell), quicken spell.

Clr Spells Prepared: (5/4+1/3+1) (DC = 14 + spell level)

0-- 5 spellow;
1-- Giant reptiles + 4 spelli
2-- Hypnottic pattern + 3 spelli.
Domain Spells: (magic, serpent): 1--Nystul's Undetectable Aura, Nystul's Magical Aura, Giant reptiles; 2--Identify, Hypnotic Pattern.

Equipment: trident, light mace, heavy crossbow, 22 bolt(s), hide armor, heavy wooden shield, ncet lvl 3 scroll, twice lvl 1 scroll.



Magic Domain Spells

1 - Magic Aura: Alters object’s magic aura.
2 - Identify: Determines properties of magic item.
3 - Dispel Magic: Cancels magical spells and effects.



Serpent domain powers

Serpent Magic domain

Prerequisites: Pray to the Serpent, promote Serpents’s agenda

Granted power: Once per day, you can cast one spell as quickened without the quickened spell using up a spell slot four levels higher than the spell’s actual level.

1 – Giant reptiles (as enlarge person, reptiles only)
2 – Hypnotic Pattern
3- Snake Rune (as Explosive Runes, acid dmg instead of force dmg)
4 – Magic circle against non-reptiles
5- Swarming snakes (as Black tentacles, 1d8+6 constrict dmg added to normal Black tentacles effects )

Addendum. Considering the fact that I get two spells per round for three rounds, what are some good combos to use in this setup? I know many ideas for wizard spell list:

web + stinking cloud
Flaming Sphere + Quickened Pyrotechnics
Spectral Hand + Touch spell

... but am quite lost when it comes to Cleric spell list. All books allowed. Thanks.
