Hello! I am a DM who will be starting a new campaign soon. Before I go any further, to my players: Bispun, Klownface, and Vin, STAY OUT. THIS MEANS YOU.
Anyway, my next campaign is based fairly heavily around fairy tales, and I'm writing a "nursery rhyme" for several of the main villains. However, I would greatly appreciate some other voices besides my own, especially getting some different vocal qualities.
Here are the songs:
Jack Graft (to the tune of "Mary Had a Little Lamb")
Jack Graft saw a nobleman
Nobleman, nobleman
Jack Graft saw a nobleman
His skin was fair and pure
Jack Graft asked the nobleman
Nobleman, nobleman
Jack Graft asked the nobleman
"What price, sir, for your skin?"
(The) noble ran deep in the woods
In the woods, in the woods
(The) noble ran deep in the woods
"My skin is not for sale!"
Jack Graft took a carving knife
Carving knife, carving knife
Jack Graft took a carving knife
His "priceless" skin to wear
Jack Graft wears a new white coat
New white coat, new white coat
Jack Graft wears a new white coat
It gleams both fair and pure
Note: Jack Graft is a murderjack (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/fw/20040828a), for the curious.
Richard Shiver (to the tune of "Twinkle, Twinkle")
Richard Shiver, heart of wood
Richard Shiver, never good
Took a maiden, fair and fine
Turned her to a mountain pine
Richard Shiver, heart of wood
Richard Shiver, never good
Richard Shiver, heart of ice
Richard Shiver, never nice
Found a woodsman in the dark
Stripped his skin and made it bark
Richard Shiver, heart of ice
Richard Shiver, never nice
Richard Shiver, heart of wood
Richard Shiver, never good
Wishes you to be like him
Half a tree, the Prince of Limbs
Richard Shiver, heart of wood
Richard Shiver, never good
Note: Richard Shiver is a Verdant Prince (MM4) with a horde of parasitic plants (such as the Demonthorn Mandrake from MM5).
Mother Mae (to the tune of "This Old Man")
"Mother Mae" is a traditional song in the "add a verse" tradition, with all singers singing the first verse, then taking turns making up new verses (or repeating old favorites). It is often sung as a children's song, with very mild lyrics, with the singer asking for more and more extravagant gifts from the titular character. In taverns, it is a favorite for displays of innuendo, with each singer attempting to push the limits of taste for the biggest laugh through increasingly bawdy requests from "Mother Mae". In unseelie fey circles, it is usually sung by singing back a tortured victim's cries for mercy in rhyming form. However, the first verse of the song remains remarkably similar:
Mother Mae
Mother Mae
May I ask the night to stay?
I'm an old, weary man
With no place to call my own
Pity me and share your home
(Example children's second verse)
Mother Mae
Mother Mae
May I eat your curds and whey
I'm an old, hungry man
With no food that I have known
Pity me as 'would your own
(example tavern verse)
Mother Mae
Mother Mae
Tell me where my sword to lay
I'm an old fighting man
I'm afraid it's rather worn
Give it someplace soft and warm
(example fey verse)
Mother Mae
Mother Mae
May I live just one more day?
I'm an old, worthless man,
And I've nothing left to give
Pity me and let me live
Note: Mother Mae is a corrupted nymph. I have several more "tavern" and "fey" verses written as well, if people are willing to sing them.
How about it? Anyone interested in singing a few songs?
