i have been reading threads where enervation is highly recomended with lots of combinations, but this one is legal?

split ray (http://dndtools.eu/feats/tome-and-blood-a-guidebook-to-wizards-and-sorcerers--51/split-ray--2742/) requires the spell to deal damage and enervation (http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Enervation) do not :/

A: Split Ray was reprinted and updated in Complete Arcane and works differently now (it's a +2 metamagic, does not require a single-targeted ray, does not specify it must be damage dealing.)

B: If it did still have that restriction, it would still qualify- negative levels remove HP, and thus deal damage.

Negative levels from the Enervation spell do not seem to remove HP, going by the spell description and not the Negative Level description.

Put Black Lore of Moil onto a necromancy spell and it deals additional negative energy damage.

You can Arcane Thesis your Enervate for extra metamagical goodness. You could also take the Fell Drain feat and apply it to spells like Cloud of Knives.

Enervation is an awesome spell that has been discussed on boards like this for years. Yes, you can apply split ray (as it has been rewritten) to enervation. For extra nastiness apply: arcane thesis:enervation, easy metamagic: split ray, metamagic shcool focus:necromancy, empower spell (and other metamagics as you see fit / have spell slots for). With this combination you can launch a split, empowered enervation for the cost of one 5th level spell slot dealing an average of between 7-12 negetive levels. Add levels of Incantatrix and other metamagic feats coupled with easy metamagic and you can drain crazy levels off of most enemies (barring undead and creatures immune to level drain). Though this is tempting to build, remember this......over specialize and you breed in weakness. Have fun with envervation!
