New with Psionics

Ok so I'm going to try and push to be a psionic monk or go psychic warrior and monk to go prestige class possibly in our campaign, but when I try and read the books its all sooo confusing. So I was wondering could someone give me like a psionics for dummies walkthrough about them to try and help me better understand them.

I would suggest Passive Way Monk 2/Dominant Ideal Ardent X with Tashalatora.

Ok.

Powers cost PP.

Powers can be augmented to have increased effect.

YOU CANNOT SPEND MORE PP THAN YOU HAVE MANIFESTER LEVEL WHILE MANIFESTING A POWER.

Say you have expansion and 9PP. You can't necessarily spend all those 9pp on one casting unless you have a manifester level of 9.

I would suggest a PsiWar with one level of monk. Psion also works well. Wilder is weak and hard to build right.

Also one other question about monks, if I prestige class with them what happens after I reach the last level of that prestige class. Do I have to pick a different class and multiclass as I would be "technically" be an ex monk or can I go back to leveling up my monk?

You don't take more than two levels of monk. Trust us. Two levels is plenty. Remember, friends don't let friends take more than two levels of Monk!

It's in the running for the weakest player class in the game, past L2. It's also weaker than the NPC class "Adept".

I wanted to be level six that way I would get improved trip and then with my play style start cheesing with the trip.

But people who fight with unarmed strikes are bad at tripping.

To Trip, you want to be Large and fight with a two handed trip weapon, like a Guisarme or Spiked Chain. If you want an asian themed weapon, call the Guisarme a Kama-Yari. Psychic Warriors and Ardents with Expansion who use those weapons are good at tripping, but then they aren't very Monk-like, are they?

If you want improved trip, go monk 2 and then go psy war. Take it as one of your bonus feats. You will want to use expansion to go up a couple size categorys.

None from XPH, which is where most of the stuff from the SRD comes from?
