Hey all,

Just looking for a selection of spells that give large bonuses to a die roll.

Glibness: +30 to Bluff
Guidance of the Avatar: +20 to skill check
True Strike: +20 to an attack roll

Looking for similar skills that I may not be aware of?

Cheers - T

Warp destiny, from Races of Destiny, is an immediate action spell that can be cast after learning that you failed a save. It grants you a reroll with a bonus equal to your caster level, capped at 20.

It's not on the scale of the ones you listed, but I've always been a fan of primal instinct from dragon magic. Its primary effect is giving a +5 to initiative for 24 hours, which is a pretty massive bonus compared to most effects on initiative. The other primal spells give similarly styled bonuses, but nothing at the level of primal instinct. It's out of a third level slot, too.

Jump (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/jump.htm) can provide up to a +30 to your check at CL9.

Expeditious Retreat and similar movement-increasing abilities, through the bonus to speed, grants a +12 to Jump checks to creatures with 30ft base speed or more. If the target has less than 30ft base speed, removing the penalty means an increase from 14 to 18.

Spells that grant Swim or Climb speeds, like Spider Climb, grant (from the speed itself) +8 to the appropriate check.

Disguise Self, Alter Self, and similar spells grant +10 to Disguise checks.

Crown of Veils (Bard 2, Beguiler 3) can grant +8 untyped to a Disguise or Hide check.

Invisibility (and any spell which makes you invisible, like Blinding Color Surge) grants +40 to Hide checks, or +20 if you're moving.

Why does nobody ever mention Weildskill?

Clr1, min/lvl, "the subject gains a +10 competence bonus on a skill check of your choice." It also lets them use the skill untrained if relevant, and because that obviously isn't enough it can also be used to grant a weapon proficiency.

+5 on initiative and survival for 24 hours flat on a level 2 spell (ranger) makes it prime Eternal Wand material. Go go UMD.

Owl's Insight gives you a bonus to Wisdom equal to half your caster level, with no cap. Plus, it's an insight bonus, a very uncommon type of ability score bonus, meaning it'll stack with almost everything.

Brachiation; +10 competence bonus to climb checks, can brachiate moving at +10ft ground speed.

You mean Branch to branch? Brachiation is the feat.

Because it is 3.0 and only available to clerics of Gond; it was rewritten for 3.5 as a domain spell with only a +5 bonus, and the domain was only available via Gond. (I don't think you can fit the "Initiate of Gond" domain into 'worshiping an ideal' rules :smalltongue:)

Brachiation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brachiation).

There is no spell named "Brachiation" that I know of, regardless of whether it is a legitimate word (which it is). There is, however, a spell called Branch to Branch in the Spell Compendium which does exactly what you described.

So if you want to communicate via images... (http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mcml6qTRx71rxevt4o1_400.jpg) :smalltongue:

Because it's fairly obscure, and since it's on the Initiate of Gond list it's only really useful for Archivists?

Is there any way other than a dip/PrC to get Improvisation on a Cleric spell list?

I believe two and a half hours surpasses the time window for claims of swordsage'd. What should we call it when it is due to a failed spot check? rogue'd?:smalltongue:

Races of Eberron has a few gems, especially for shifters. It also introduces (or reintroduces) Mindset spells, which give special bonuses when they are prepared in one of a prepared casters slot.

Of special note is wild instincts, a swift-action cast, 1min/level, druid2, ranger3 spell that grants +10 insight to Listen/Spot, and prevents one from losing Dex to AC when flat-footed or attacked by unseen assailants. Why they really thought it was necessary to give more Spot buffs to druids, only the gods know.

More goodies for shifters and such, plus the bizarre and potentially economy-breaking unseen crafter.

It was actually a good book for casters. Thanks, Eberron!:smalltongue:

...and Artificers. And Warlocks. And, via those three, on anyone who can UMD a wand.

If you use Node Magic from Champions of Ruin and have a class 1 node with Improvisation in it as one of the spells the node grants, that's one way to do it. The problem being it takes Node Spellcasting as a feat, requires you to be evil IIRC, and from memory it only works in the area of the node.

I thought the agreement from the past was that it would be Monk'd.

You can do it with non-evil earth nodes, per Underdark. There's even a 9th level spell that allows you to create your own Earth Node (Node Genesis).

Half your level, it doesn't say caster level.
