Hey All:

I am working on a world where magic is innate to all characters, and I'd like some feedback on how folks think that would work.

I won't go into details on the system (i'll post that in homebrew once i get all the spells up), but essentially, characters get a class feature at 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and spells as follows

Characters also know 1 cantrip/level.

1: 1 first level spell
2: 1 first level spell
4: 1 first or second level spell
6: 1 first or second level spell
8: 1 first, second, or third level spell
10: 1 first, second, or third level spell

The only limitation on the magic is that every spell has a linked attribute. To cast the spell, you must have an attribute modifier equal to the spell level.

So, folks, what are the implications of this sort of thing? What should i watch out for -- what choices are too good and will be unbalancing if everybody takes them?

you could limit each class to a specified list of domains and just grant them the spells and domain powers accordingly, have them pick one or 2. the spells are already worked out for being level appropriate, you could even go as far as calling the "unlocking" of more uses of the domain spells/day "domain prowess"... 1/day at 1rst lvl, 2/day at 3rd or 4th, etc...
