I'm playing a beguiler, but I'm not too fond of his personality. He's lived his whole life on the streets and, up until the last session, could only afford rags for clothes. He's joined a party of nobles who all speak sophisticated, while my character speaks like trash (no wittiness at all; too easily afraid of things). He's chaotic neutral, which means he's a ****. I need to figure out how to alter his personality so that I like him more. Tips?

I understand your impatience, but wont he pick up their tone of speech eventually, if his wisdom/Int. is fairly high? Being around nobility 24/7 he'll eventually learn. The pace would be up to the DM
On him being afraid, if thats due to lack of experience, maybe more XP should make him braver and more confident. As in "I made it through this crap quite well. Next time that wont seem as scary. "
To me, it seems that all you need is time?
