As the title suggests, I've come across a file type I can't figure out; called "OGM".. any idea where to even start with figuring out how to run one? What's it for anyway(in the sense of why use it instead of more common types?)?

That should be an Ogg file containing video.

VLC should be able to handle it; alternatively, there should be DirectShow filters available to play it in Windows Media Player, and most Linux distros can play it natively (I think).

As for why anyone would use it, most web browsers either support it natively for streaming, or can easily be extended to support it. Additionally, for the time being, nobody is demanding any royalties for using the Ogg formats and codecs, not even for commercial purposes.

I think Media Player Classic (CCCP) also runs OGM files. I don't really like VLC, personally.
