It seems a rather decent spell, if your trying to run away or some other fancy thing that does not include attacking.

How would you rate sanctuary with it only be a level one spell.

I think it's pretty good. Not amazing, but it's pretty helpful.

Was there ever anything official that did that thing from BoEF...what was it....

I think the feat was called Passive. It was part of their line that gave people cool things based on their sexual proclivities. Anyway, I think if you took this feat chain, you could trigger a non-magical sanctuary effect by just acting all demure. Pretty damn nifty when you can do it as often as the mechanic seemed to allow.

Ah. I need to dig out/surreptitiously acquire a new copy of that book. Full of interesting concepts.

The thing I love about sanctuary is the fact that once they fail their will save, they can't even attempt to hit you until the spell is over.

Sanctuary is useful for a number of things:
Getting around the battle unharmed as you heal and buff your allies.
Giving yourself some added protection your summoned demons rip people to part.
Pissing off fighters who fail their Will save.

All in all it is probably one of the few 1st level spells that can stay relevant at higher levels.
