What system is best of playing Fire Emblem?

What system can best be used for playing games inspired by the game series Fire Emblem? Should it be freeform? DnD? Iron Heroes? PF? M&M?

P.S. Also, does anyone know of a good resource for Fire Emblem style character portraits?

What do you mean by "inspired by" Fire Emblem? Mechanically, or flavorfully? Flavor, you could take pretty much any system that can do vaguely medieval fantasy. Mechanics would be a bit tougher, though.

D&D 4E would be an awesome choice, I think. It's tactics-heavy, so you can have characters who hop into tactical combat at the drop of a hat. All of the powers provide neat color, too.
