Hello gentlefolk of the forums. I am starting (or at least hoping to start) a Star Wars Saga Edition game for my friends. So far I'm looking at four or five players, although one will be out of the country for six weeks so I'll have to write that out when I come to it. What I am here to do is ask you good people for some advice on running Saga Edition and to put forward some of my campaign ideas before I start it up. Also, I might do a campaign story time if it gets particularly interesting.

Now, I have run Saga before, but it was years ago and I really only had story and combat. I wasn't making use of skill checks- or any other checks- and I was kind of a railroader. The reason for the first issue was that I was very intimidated by all the numbers that in it. I realize now it's not such a quagmire, but at the time it looked like trigonometry. The second issue, the railroading, was because I was an inexperienced GM and roleplayer, so I didn't have backup plans if the players strayed off the path. Now I have some more experience and way more confidence. But still, I'd like some advice on running Saga, because the easier I can make it for myself the better I can make the game for my friends.

You want the Other Games/AD&D forum. Lots of Saga players there. And the main Saga thread,

Rule 1 of Saga: Don't give your players too much money.
Rule 2 of Saga: Be prepared for players to jump to hyperspace and never return to your masterfully crafted plot. :smalltongue:
