Inspired by ErrantX's design of the Invincible Iron Man (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=258113, which, btw, looks awesome), I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas/designs for other Marvel superhero characters (specifically the Avengers, but X-Men are cool too) or even DC characters.

I know that building these classes probably isn't an original idea, so I'm also wondering if anyone has seen these class designs in their wandering throughout the interwebs. If not, I'd love to get any homebrewers to help me out. Thanks!

Well, it's kind of not what your looking for, but ToB classes are pretty good for fighter-type heroes (Crusader for Captain America, Warblade/Swordsage for Daredevil, Unarmed Swordsage for Iron Fist and Black Panther, etc) so you may want to look into some homebrew disciplines or ToB classes as inspiration.

There's the Hulking Hurler and War Hulk for the Human Torch, obviously.

Personally, I don't favor ToB...it feels too much like martial classes as spellcasters. But I understand what you mean.

Well, there's the Black Knight, Captain Britain, Doctor Strange, Brother Voodoo and Daimon Hellstrom (or is it Hellstorm?) so... you can have magical fighting superheroes too, it's worth giving it a look

Milo also did a spider-man and venom base class for pathfinder but it should be easy to convert to 3.5

I did a Speedster (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=11922343#post11922343)class that could be used for Quicksilver.

DeAnno made "The Beast (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=222962)," which is basically the Hulk.

I did a couple superhero themed things with Gestalts and Pathfinder.

Spider-man was a Sorcerer-Monk (The sorc. bit to allow for spells like web, and the monk bit to allow for unarmed and unarmored fighting).
Wolverine was Samurai-Barbarian, with the Beast totem rage-power line
Captain America Was a Cavalier-Fighter/Eagle-Knight (Eagle Knight is basically a PrC for the America Expy, so I felt it fit)
Green Goblin was a goblin Alchemist-Wizard
Hulk was an Alchemist-Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager)
Thor was, if memory Serves right, an Oracle-Paladin

For DC, I had a few:

Superman was a Paladin-Cavalier
Batman was a Wizard-Ninja
Joker was an Alchemist-Bard
Doomsday was, of course, a Terrasque

Green Goblin was a goblin Alchemist-Wizard
Green Goblin is Medium-sized, so hobgoblin would probably fit better the race part, wouldn't it?

I've been wanting to design an effective "captain america" class that can mix it up in melee, act as a "defender," and also grant superior tactical, battlefield-leadership. Sort of a mundane and 3.5 version of 4e's Paladin, I guess. I don't know how necessary it really is, though, with the existence of the Crusader.

You can do Cap pretty good with a Warblade/that ToB throwing PrC whose name I can't remember. Take assorted shield fighting feats, Superior Unarmed Strike, White Raven maneuvers...

Yay I actually have a presence on this site :smalltongue:
The venom class sadly was one of my worst works though... I didn't really like how it ended up.... Spider Blood Assassin's definitely my favourite though.

I also made an Alex Mercer Class. Who is a DC character... kinda.

Here's a link. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=253826)

I'd just like to note that in a burst of desire to do so, I've just Tiered (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=13355447) a bunch of the classes linked here. (Namely all but one of them.) Feel free to pick up some discussion in the thread, if you wish.

I totally forgot before, but I also did Green Lantern (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=12209683#post12209683). (Easily adaptable for, say, Quasar)

I did a Captian America with a gestalt Paladin/Warrior in 3.5. I picked warrior over fighter because its not limited to the fighter bonus feat list. Then I used this feat bank to bolster my combat with a shield. I had a masterwork light steel shield enchanted with a returning weapon spell. That along with the Shield sling feat made for lots of fun on the battle field!
