My DM is starting a new campaign soon, we all are going in at level 5. We gave away the party's roles and I took the primary caster. I'm going UM build (because it is not an OP game, just for fun).
I asked for my DM for a background benefit (houserule). And I asked for the Embrace the Dark Chaos / Shun the Dack Chaos spell combo because in my academy we must all pass through our inner chaos and shun it. He accepted with some restrictions with my feats; I accepted.

I'm going Gray Elf.

I want feedback of my already picked feats.

Replace Sorcerer with Beguiler, so your only important stat will be Int. Plus if you take that at 1st level you get tons of skill points, plus an amazing class skill list. If only you were a Human or similar, you could take Able Learner and count those as class skills at every level.

Use this Wizard ACF (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/variantCharacterClasses.htm#wizard) from UA to get Improved Initiative instead of Scribe Scroll.

Get the feat Versatile Spellcaster (RotD) so you can spend two spontaneous spell slots to cast any spell you know of one level higher, including Wizard spells you've learned.

Fill your spellbook with 1st level spells at one page per spell. Cast Secret Page to turn the text of one page into a different, higher level spell. It still only takes one page, so every spell in your book occupies a single page regardless of level.

Take it one step further, go to the guild/library, assuming you can copy their spells for the standard fee (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicOverview/arcaneSpells.htm#wizardSpellsandBorrowedSpellbooks ) of 50 gp per spell level. Study a spell, make the Spellcraft check, then pretend you weren't able to learn it. Make a Bluff check (it's a Beguiler class skill, and you can get Glibness) to convince them that you weren't able to learn the spell, blame it on the poor quality of the copy you were given, and leave without paying. After you leave use Secret Page to put it into your spellbook. Keep going back every day, they'll just think your character is a dunce and humor him.
