I'm planning to play a sorcerer in my next game wondering what your guys' favourite blaster spells are. Also the best ones. I've heard great things about wings of flurry.

Edit: Mostly looking for lower level spells.

Orb of Fire. Magic Missile.

With Arcane Thesis on each of those you can pretty much blast to your hearts content without a problem.

Elemental Dart (Dragonlance Campaign Setting, Sor/Wiz 2). Fires up to 5 darts, ranged touch attack, a la carte energy damage, great way to clear out multiple mirror images if you don't have access to magic missile. It's also conjuration, so accessable via shadow conjuration if need be. Unfortunately, Fort save for half and SR: Yes.

Fetid Breath (Ghostwalk Web Enhancement (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20030607a), Sor/Wiz 1): Stinking cloud as a 10' cone. Fort save negates, but great against low-level sorcerers/wizards.

Frost Fingers (Codicil of the White (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mb/20040616a), Sor/Wiz 1). Essentially a cold grep for burning hands. Can also be used to create slippery ice (difficult terrain, render foes without Balance 5 as flat-footed) if you spread some water on the surface beforehand.

Ice Darts (Frostburn, Brd/Sor/Wiz 2). Similar to elemental dart, but damage is half ice/half untyped, and Save: No/SR: No. Also, bards can get it for some reason.

Kaupaer's Quickblast (Kaupaer's Quickbook (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mb/20050112a), Sor/Wiz 1). This is a 3.0 spell, so you need to update the casting time to 3.5, which means it could be a free action, swift action, or immediate action. It autohits similar to magic missile, although there is a Ref save for half damage. Good way to light things on fire as a free/swift action: webs, incendiary slime, wall of thorns, etc.

Lesser Fireball (Wyrms of the North: Claugiyliamater (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/article.asp?x=fr/fx20020227wn), Sor/Wiz 2). Has the same problems as the not-so-lesser fireball (mostly the Save: Ref half), but can be a cute little surprise to fling out there as a 4th level Sorcerer.

Shocking Spark (Dragonlance Campaign Setting, Sor/Wiz 2). An electrical version of scorching ray. Actually, it doesn't use rays, but it's still a ranged touch attack with a +3 attack bonus if the target is wearing/carrying a lot of metal. Same damage as scorching ray: 4d6 electricity, and you get an extra spark at 6th/10th level (3 sparks max).

If by "blast" you mean "direct damage", check out mailman builds.
If by "blast" you mean "area effect SoS, SoL, SoD" spells Black Tentacles is very winful.

In PF:
Snowball (Conjuration, SR:No, Fortitude Save against a condition and 1d6/level [up to 5])

I love it so far.

In 3.5:
Don't know really.

Should have specified 3.5
all of the mailman guides i've seen are basically just explaining the metamagic and for higher levels.
Keep em coming everyone !

Melf's Unicorn Arrow is pretty spiffy.

Streamers.

Wings of Flurry. Uncapped force damage. Reflex Save for half, but if they fail the save they are dazed.

Snowball is Orbs in PF, except 3 levels early. Pick up Wayang Spell Hunter, Magical Lineage, and Intensify/Persistent the heck out of it.
