Laramie can feel the crowd of students scattering around her, more screaming, bodies jostling her back and forth.
She hears something passing her, heading down on the stairway. Muffled sounds of panic, a blob of shadows, and when they pass under one of the lights nearby she can make out what it is. Two shadows, one grabbing hold of the other, dragging them bodily and clearly against their will down the stairs. She can see a hand clamped over a mouth, but when her eyes land on the face of the attacker she sees something...different.
It's a mask. It must be, but it's horrifying. A mass of shredded fabric that looks like torn flesh, gashes where eyes should be, a gaping black mouth. She can just see it for a second, then it's pulling its captive further down the stairs.
