Okay. Fairly simple build help needed here.

What is an effective build for a Grippli using a trident and net as the main combat weapons? I'm having trouble building one.

Preferably I'd like them to have a degree of relevance throughout the game both combat and out-of-combat wise.

I'm not familiar enough with the net rules to set up a complete build, but I'm thinking the Net Adept and the Net and Trident feats are a natural place to start.

As for utility... Well, Entangled is quite annoying...? Sorry, I got nothing.

Using a snag net and going Cavalier will let your mount beat on the prone, entangled opponent (Order of the Cockatrice will further let you pretty much auto-shake enemies for further status effects).

Cavalier with Huntmaster (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/cavalier/archetypes/paizo---cavalier-archetypes/huntmaster) Archetype is the ONLY base class that gets Net Proficiency (next best options are using a Normal feat, or spending Human/Half-Elf bonus feat on it (Half-Elf Alt-Racial Trait)).
Sadly, you are restricted to Bird or Dog Animal Companions instead of a 'mount' Companion (although if playing a Small race, you might be able to get your DM to allow a Riding Dog).

The Net line of feats are decent, giving bonuses on Trip, Disarm, Drag, and Reposition (although those last two require that you've caught someone in your net).
*NOTE: You are NOT required to use a Trident with these feats, optional yes, required no.
Sadly, Improved Trip and Improved Drag both require Combat Expertise, which requries INT 13. So decide early if that is something you want to pursue or not.

Net Trickery (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/net-trickery-combat) is pretty sweet, letting you do a Dirty Trick (Blind) (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Dirty-Trick) in place of an attack.

For extra Feats, Fighter is always solid, go with the Thrown weapons group for Weapon Training, as it has both Net and Trident

Also remember that you only need two weapon proficiency of you plan to use the extra attacks. If you just use your normal iterative attacks, it's single weapon fighting.

He did specify Grippli, and they start with net proficiency (and the only thing you can trade it for is Rapier proficiency and +2 Diplomacy and Intimidate.)
