favored soul fix?hs

Has anyone come across a way to make the favored soul not so generic? Was looking at it the other day, and realized that there are several dieties that match aliognment and favored weapon. Any findings on how to differentiate that?

The easiest way is to replace them with the Oracle from Pathfinder. The flavor is very similar (chosen by divine forces, for good or ill) and the Oracle's is greatly expanded to make it a lot more interesting to play in a variety of parties/campaigns. They also tidied away the annoying MAD issue as well as the curing issue.

Could play a cleric with the spontaneous cast conversion from Unearthed Arcana I believe.
