Is directx runtime safe?

Garry's mod is my favourite game on steam
Didn't need to download anything for it
But yesterday, when I got my new pc it takes me to the ms site to install 'directx runtime'
Suggestions?

Sounds perfectly normal to me. You may want to run Windows update on your new PC and update accordingly. You may also want to update all your drivers while you're at it.

If you don't trust the program to download the right version of DirectX, you could always go to the Microsoft site and download it yourself.
