Assuming that one could imbue Item Familiar into a construct at the moment of creation, could that construct use the Invest Life Energy option of Item Familiar to gain enough additional xp to qualify for some added construct HD?

Creatures have enough xp to be whatever HD they are.
Item Familiar gives you additional xp as you gain levels, for monsters levels=HD.
A construct gains all of it's "levels" all at once, one after the other, in rapid succession at the moment of it's creation.
This is how it gains feats and skill points, nearly instantaneously.
Could Item Familiar cause a construct (or other creature) to qualify for additional HD if the base creature had enough initial HD?

Would those additional HD be constrained by the Advancement line in the monster's entry? Or would this be a case of specific trumps general?

Would they have to be monster HD or could they be class levels?

Thanks regardless Playgrounders.

I don't believe so. No.
