View Full Version : Rookie DM. Advice on a Pathfinder One-shot?

Yesterday, I foolishly offered to DM a one-shot Pathfinder game for a get-together this weekend. The catch is I have little experience as a DM (two campaigns and a one shot as a breather episode in another campaign), so I'm still a little unsure of what I'm doing.

I want something light and simple (not everyone who will be there already knows one another, but all are experienced gamers), so I figured a squad of adventurer 'auxiliaries' trying to take a military outpost would be a good set up.

Does anyone have any advice for me on this? What kind of pacing should I have for a single four-hour mission? Generally how many fights would that be? Also, are there any free online one-shot modules anyone could point me towards? A backup plan would not go amiss...

Thank you for any help you can give me.

I believe We be Goblins (http://paizo.com/products/btpy8j5w?Pathfinder-Module-We-Be-Goblins) will work quite well, though you may not finish it in four hours - that depends on your group.

It's light, funny, not overly complicated, and it illustrates the difference between typical goblins and Pathfinder goblins to great effect

Oh yes, this is good. I could have fun with this...
