Would the combination be shooting yourself in the foot? The Incarnate (assuming you're not going for a UMD build) and Totemist seem in my mind to be similar to the Druid in respect to gear-- it's not really necessary to cover any gaps, and your primary class feature conflicts with magic items to begin with.

High level totemists in particular generally have only ring spaces free. It's actually one if the few classes that can pull it off. Definatwly not shooting yourself in your foot.

Incarnates/Totemists are some of the few classes that can manage VoP without as much trouble. They suffer a little bit from lacking the fun toys that you can accrue with wealth, but in terms of straight combat efficiency they can do fine. Both classes already have access to Flight, Teleports Armor/Save/Attack/Dmg boosts, Immunities and some other stuff.
As always, it may still be beneficial to mix the classes with something else, even if just a dip.

Don't forget that you can get around the conflict by using Incarnum Focus items.

But yeah, Incarnum classes tend to do better than most with VoP.

Totemist can do it much easier than Incarnate (as incarnates frequently utilize UMD shenanigans), but the difference is negligible (as the incarnate has plenty of good options outside of throwing money at problems (ie spell completion items)). And this is for the same 2 reasons a druids.

1) They have a significant impairment in using most slotted magic items. These can be overcome by throwing money at the problem (wilding clasps for druids, incarnum focus property for incarnum classes)

2) They have (within their class abilities) access to most of the effects an adventurer needs to get their job done.

However VoP is still not as good as sucking it up and working around your item related difficulties, but it is much easier to defend taking the lazy path of the vow, where as other classes make it harder to defend that laziness. I will however posit that in the case of a gestalt druid//totemist the vow might actually be as close to even with WBL as it is every going to get, especially if you can take the saint template on "one side".
