This is a discussion thread for the webcomic Captain SNES, a deconstruction/parody/homage to the cartoon show Captain N and the classic NES/Super Nintendo era.

The old thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=196399) died with the curtain closing on the world of Final Fantasy III/VI, after which JayDee's update schedule slowed once again, but stuff has been happening and there are things to talk about. The Cap'n is out of jail (and further down the rabbit hole) in the flashback at least, while Eggplant Wizard's true power was revealed. The most interesting thing to me, though, has been Golbez's development into a bona fide anti-hero and with it the introduction of a third force to match Alpha and Omega energies.

Any CSNES readers still here? What'd you think of the last couple story arcs, and with the comic's anniversary coming up and a scene change imminent, where do you think it's going from here?

I have been following it for a while, and is glad that things are starting to move again.

And yes, we have at least one additional force in play, besides whatever it is that Terra is running on.

Oh right, Terra's probably powered by something else entirely: she's not Touched, and it's not Alpha energy (or anger for that matter). Hmm.

Joy, I would think. I doubt she ever understood before how good being in Esper form actually felt because she was so focused on how it made her different from everyone. Now she's spent a year as just another human and then suddenly it all comes back in one overwhelming rush.

It's kind of troublesome how slow the comic moves... I tend to forget A LOT of stuff that has happened and in a story that complicated with that many characters and scenarios that's a real hassle.

You won't get an argument from me there. It's a big complicated convoluted mess, and Alex has done his level best to tie this Gordian knot to the best of his abilities. The slow and irregular update schedule, long and interconnected arcs, and huge cast of characters makes it difficult to keep track of everything.

It is, however, also a deep, complex, and fascinating story. And I find myself coming back no matter how frustrating the pacing may be.
