Help finding a story! The Rogue-Mage

I remember years ago, reading the story of a Raz Ta'alin Delacroix (or something thereabouts), the Rogue Mage.

I very badly want to reread it, but cannot find it for the life of me. Is this sparking recognition with anyone else?

Google search turns up a D&D 4th edition character with that name, in a thread that apparently has character stats and backstories, although I can't find the specific entry in the thread. Are you thinking of that character's backstory, maybe?
