A true tragedy, these brave men gave their lives to try and stop a fire from consuming a town. I just feel like I have to say something, more people should know about the brave sacrifice these men made.

Living in the southwest I can tell you that the potential for wildfires is staggering. We’re in a heat wave (news is projecting 113 degrees F by Wednesday) and the conditions are very dry. Heck I haven’t seen rain in five months (and i won't until late October... if that). Despite this, it’s very rare for fire fighters to suffer any fatalities. So just feel the need to mention this, these people died heroes and should have a heroes funeral.

Heard about this. My family has quite a few firefighters in it, so my heart goes out to the families. I live in Pennsylvania, and we've seen nothing but rain for about a month, now. I wish all these storms would go somewhere they're actually needed.

I read about this just this morning. Some of my childhood friends fight forest fires. I hope they're OK, and wish these men were too.

Usually I find the word "hero" to be sadly overused in this country, and often applied with a very low standard for entry.

Not this time. These guys were heroes in the truest sense.

Those in the Red line and us in the Blue line may have a rivalry, but is one of siblings, and we all appreciate eachother's sacrifices.

These two women at the casino were there; I think. They came in, one was wearing American flag apparel and they kept whooping. We joked there was a bird in the rafters. They were rather vehement about the nineteen firefighters.
