Hey Playgrounders, I want to build a warlock that isn't going to possibly overshadow the poorly built characters that my fellow group members might make as we are all relatively new to 3.5 and they dislike reading the rule books. (The DM and I spend the first hour of most sessions explaining rules.)

I'm looking more for suggested feats, than for dips or PRCs.
Starting at level 3.

Imperious Command (DrU50) can work well with a warlock who has Intimidate maxed, as well as Beguiling Influence up.

There are no shortage of Handbooks (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=2997) for (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=159708)Warlocks (http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75882/19870282/The_Glaivelock_-_A_Mini-Guide), in fact Snowbuff is going to turn up in a minute with another one.

Building a warlock that doesn't overshadow the other characters shouldn't be hard - warlocks are pretty "middle of the road" on the power scale. Imperious Command is actually a pretty powerful feat.

You might want to take the Frightening or Sickening Blast essence and use Ability Focus to up the save DC. This is a nice debuff to enemies which will help your allies out without stealing the show.

Imperious Command is good. Dreadful Wrath is quite good as well.

Yep! Here is the local handbook!

Oh, and don't forget to put points into int and cha so your saes will be actually hard to make by enemies and so you actually have enough skillpoints for social skills...

Fro the rest you could focus on ranged blasting (which the warlock out of hte box isn't strong at) with psionic shot and so on

Mortalbane (BoVD) is a good damage booster, 5/day.
